OMG.
Overweight since as long as I can remember,  at least since elementary school. My mother believed you finished everything on your plate my father believed in food for comfort, habits I am still fighting. After HS I became the classic  yo-yo dieter. I've lost and gained more pounds then I've ever weighed.  My top weight ever was 318lbs size 28/30,  in my adult life my lowest weight was 155lbs size 16, I was about 25 years old. I went from 220 to 170 then in 1994 with the birth of my first child I went from 170 to 239,  then to 242 then I don't even remember. Ironically every time I'd lose weight  and start getting fit I'd get pregnant. 2 kids later at some point I remember being weighed and I was 285lbs. 4 years ago I got back down to 262 but I couldn't hold it  and went back up to 295. 2 years ago I went down to 270 but back up to 282. I dropped down to 262 and then hovered at 267 to 269 for the last  year. I had wanted the surgery for many years but had doctor /insurance issuses.  Insurance did not  want to pay for it unless I could show good cause. My previous doctor wouldn't ok  it because  I didn't have any co-morbesity ailments, she felt it wasn't  for me so she  would not do the referal. So I switched doctors, ironically I went to a new doctor  for diet pills, something else my previous doctor also did not agree to so would not prescribe. My new doctor who also did not agree with pills asked me if I ever considered surgery, did she say surgery? I was floored. I told her I had but previous doctor would not do referal,  she said she would. I started getting excited again.   Then 2 people where I work used the company insurance to get the lapband, that's when I found out they would cover a gastric bypass,  so I switched my insurance to them and here I am today 2 months post-op.  The only glitch I really had was my insurance incorporates 2 carrier names  so the surgeons office gave me the guidline requirements for the incorrect carrier and I was having an issue with one requirement  which would have set me back at least 2 more months before I could meet,  but I checked with the insurance company 2 times and confirmed they did not need it. I provided this information  to the surgeons office they sent in the request and I was pre-approved.
