I am 37 years old, been married for 19 1/2 years to a U.S. Marine and we have three beautiful kids. I didn't start out having issues with my wieght  it was not until I had my children. With each kid, more weight came and with every kid, it was harder to get it off. When I had my son, I gain more weight than I or my 5'2" frame could stand. I started having lower back pains, my knees started to hurt and I developed planter faciatis in my feet. I happen to have an appt. my estetician one day and noticed that she had lost quite a bit of weight, I thought about it for a second and let the thought pass. I later had another appt a month later and really realized that she was getting smaller and smaller. This time I decided to ask her what she was doing. She told me that she went to Mexico and had a Lapband put on her stomach. I didn't know what it was, so she began to explain. She told me it was the best thing she had ever did for herself. I was excited and started to research it for myself. I thought about doing it in Mexico also but after realizing how expensive it was I knew I couldn't afford to do this. A few months later I was talking to my neighbor and she told me she was having gastric bypass. I thought to myself while she was telling me about it...I could never have my inside plumbing rerouted. Then she told me that it was called the VSG, I wasn't impressed because I'm still thinking that it was rerouting everything. Then months later after I saw her again she had her surgery, she had lost a lot of weight. She talked to me about it again, and realized that I had to do something and began my research again. I found out that my insurance would cover the band so I started my journey for surgery. I went to my consultation with my surgen and he had explained all the procedures that were being performed. I went home did a little more research and that's when I decided that I wanted the sleeve. I didn't want the band anymore because of the hassle of so many trips to the doctor and the fills. I had my surgery May 12th and I am about 21lbs lighter. I feel great, my family is very supportive and I couldn't be happier. I am looking forward to getting back to healthier size and enjoying life even more than I do now.
