Can't believe how good I feel
Aug 11, 2010
My family is slowing changing their ways as well, which of course makes things easier for me. If they are in need of some kind of JUNK food, I make certian that I buy them things that I cannot stand, yet I tell them....You know that is not good for you....lol. I would have to say that I do miss Ice Cream especially now with it being so hot here in the south east, but I'm good without it. What is funny is that I really never ate much ice cream before. So what I am opting for is to freeze my fruits, especially peaches and place them in the blender with Splenda and blend baby blend.....WALLAH a peach smoothie, all NATURAL, no added sugar, no nasty syrups. And it does taste wonderful.
As far as exercising goes...still dont like it and I even like it less as hot as it and has been, with the heat index being over 100, so I have to wait til late evening to make laps around the yard, glad it is a big yard. I look forward to the continued weight loss, I must say this is the first time in my life that I am glad to be a loser!....lol
Blessings
Holy Cow, what I have learned
Jul 21, 2010
If you are not careful, you will learn something new every day. Soooo, what have I learned you ask.....That the meat that I now eat has to be very moist, or actually with me I have to have a sauce (healthy, not gravy) to dip my meat in. It does not matter how slow I eat, if it is not moist, then it will get STUCK and that does not feel good!! This sure will force you slow down, and question just about everything you eat. This happened to me again today, with it being a bad episode that lasted about 10 min. then the feeling finally subsided.
Protein drinks and yogurt were my meals for the rest of the day as I did not want that feeling to happen again. I am thinking that is was just the Chicken was dry. I count when I chew, I have become obsessive about that and it is now second nature to me, but no matter how much I chewed that little bit of chicken, it still felt as though it was stuck. From now on I will have some type of sauce available for dipping.
Even with the STUCK feeling, I am glad that I had the surgery, and would do it again. It is amazing how much better you feel without the extra 10, 20, 30 lbs. And I am looking forward to shedding more weight in the weeks and month to come.
I love being a looser!!
First Fill 7/14/10
Jul 15, 2010
As of this morning when I weighed I have lost 27lbs. 2 sizes, yet what I am wearing is too big. I just purchased capri's last weekend, and they may now be too big, glad I only bought 2 pairs. I Guess I need to try those on while I still have the receipt.
Overall this has been a great beginning on this journey to a healthier me, even with the allergic reaction. I consider that to be a minor set back, yet easily gotten over with the help of zyrtec. If anyone is considering having this surgery, I would recommend it, of course you need to research the procedures as I did and talk with your family and your Dr. I know my decision with family support to have this surgery has saved my life, and saved me from diabetes, and messed up knees. Oh, that is a new one....I was able to go up stairs today without being winded and my knees not hurting, now that was wonderful!!!!!
Have a blessed day

4 weeks and 2 days post-op
Jul 04, 2010
I have been doing and feeling great, I am currently down 23lbs as of Sunday morning July 4. I know it is not a huge number, but that is ok. I was not able to get a fill the other week.....he feels that at that time my stomach was still swollen and giving a fill would cause more problems at that time. I go back next week, where he plans to give me my first fill. I will ceretainly write about that.
I feel so much better....have you ever toted around a cinder block? well it weighs 20lbs and I have so far lost one of those....yay! I wished I had done this a few years ago, I would do it all over again....minus the allergic reaction to the glue they use. I still itch from time to time, and I am so grateful for Zyrtec!
Blessings to you all

I am eagerly awaiting for when I can eat ruffage (salads). I am craving leafy greens and something crunchy, and yes I am ready for soft foods as well. I have taken things very slowly and will continue to do so, as I do not want to push the eating too much too fast button, so far I have not gotten sick or nauseated and this I am proud of!! this is the last thing that I want to happen.
My family will be glad when I can eat more than pureed food, they are tired of boiled food. I am thinking that I will prepare them something special tomorrow, while I stick with my chicken. I think I will make parm chicken (a light version) such boiled chicken, then diced into the magic bullet with some spaghetti sauce, this should be good, I'll give it a try and if it is worth mentioning again I will share. However for some reason boiled chicken and ranch dressing is not good, well at least to me. wonder why the fried chicken tenders and ranch taste better than the boiled.
Oh well, enough for tonight....hope everyone who has had or will have surgery is and will be doing wel.l
2 weeks post op tomorrow
Jun 17, 2010
On Tuesday I had to return to the Dr. due to my incisions sites had sprug a leak, well at least 2 had, and were driving me nuts as far as itching. He has placed me back on antibiotics for 2 weeks as well as a topical cream for my incision sites. They still itch but not as bad. Personally I think that I am allergic to the glue they put on me, but beign safe with the antibiotic is ok with me as I do not want things in there messed up from an infection.
He also told me to go ahead and begin eating pureed food. Prior to the surgery I was not looking forward to this, but I have to say I was happy to move from all the liquids. Now the challenge was finding ideas of what to eat during this period of time and I found that there was little help here as far as things go. I am sure some people are more helpful than others, just not as far as ideas. Sooooo, I did a little search and found a site and I believe the name of it was "thinner times". I will have to double check. What I found was helpful and the 2 that I liked were .....
1.--1-2 spoon fulls of ricotta or cottage cheese
1-2 spoonfulls of spaghetti sauce (low sugar)
a little bit of mozz cheese
heat in microwave til warm......it is yummy
2.--1-2 spoonfulls of fat free refried beans
sprinkle of cheddar cheese
1-2 packs or spoonfulls of taco sauce mixed in
heat in microwave til warm......this too is good. And you will need to add water to the refried beans to thin them out.
Weight loss to date (from day of surgery) 17lbs. :-)
post op day 9
Jun 13, 2010
I have my "magic bullet" ready for pureed food. now just need to know how to make the chicken taste better. I have heard a few people say that they use a lot of low sodium soy sauce, but is there anything else besides soy? If so I would like to know cause this could get old. I have tried looking for sites for recipes for the pured food week(s) but nothing. I want to do this right as my health depends on it. I am open to suggestions.
Have a Blessed Week
post op day 8
Jun 12, 2010
Feeling GREAT!! Sure there were a few hard days, as with anything I survived and here we are at day 8. Began Walking today and my energy was zapped for about an hour, but I recovered with a smiile on my face. Yogurt is now my "junk food" and what a healthy junk food it is. I am getting tired of the liquid, as most anyone would. Before I was dreading pureeing (is that a word?) my meat, but I am looking forward to the mush. I need some creative ways to make it taste better as I like for my meat to have a taste, bland just is not for me.
I now need to purchase a pair or 2 of new pants since my old ones are beginning to fall off, which is not good it you are in your local grocery, target, walmart, etc. The song "pants on the ground, pants on the ground lookin like a fool with your pants on the ground" (was sung on American Idol this past season) comes to mind. The romasses are still large and even when it is smaller i still will not be into showing it off!
I am sure some people are wondering if I would do the lap-band susrgery again....YES. I feel blessed and know that I have a full life ahead of me.
post op day 5
Jun 09, 2010
I have taken advantage of the nice day and walked around outside, that did feel good and sure lifts the spirits a bit, but I want to see something other than my home and yard at this point.
I would like to have a recipe for flavoring chicken broth, I have to admit it is getting old, and I am growing tired of it.
If anyone has ideas or suggestions for anything, please share, I will be most grateful to you.
4 days after surgery
Jun 08, 2010
All went well, I did have little problem getting out of recovery 1 because they like to have your O2 level at 93%, since I tend to hold my breath due to pain my dropped, pluse 2 shots of morophine did not help this either. Overall everything went well and Came home the day/evening of surgery.
Sat. slept on and off all day for the most part an uneventful day, I felt pretty good.
Sun. Was good, went grocery shopping, and took it very slow and no I did not drive, but it was great to get out of the house. I felt really good!!!
Mon am. Was a great morning, not a great deal of pain and sat up in the chair for a while, decided I wanted to get out of the house though, so I got in my car and drove through the yard to my in-laws...Needless to say she got a kick out of that, but I just did not feel like walking up that hill again. By afternoon, I was not feeling so great and having to take a lot of gas-x. It has not been an awful afternoon, just tired and bloated. I know I am healing and I am good with this.
Tues. Did not feel so great today, again still sore, but not reallly painful, seems like everything I drink makes me gassie.
It was a busy tuesday, with having to take little one to orthodontist, then stopping so she and husband could get lunch while I drank an unsweetened tea. They feel guilty eating in front of me, but I tell them not to worry about it cause I am not hungry. I am getting tired of Chicken broth & jello and I am looking forward to week 2 with the addition of yogurt, and protein drinks, that I will be sipping on forever, as the last thing that I want to do or be is SICK...so far so good!!!
I am looking forward to FRIDAY, cause I can begin week 2, with the addition of yogurt and protein drinks. My fridge is packed with Atkins vanilla protein shakes (they taste like snow cream) and yoplait lime yogurt. I am happy with the decision even with the bad days...it is still good.
