Rhia, My 6-7 week plateau finally busted! Yours will too! My husband Doug is doing Weight Watchers (we both did it 8 weeks pre-op) and he has lost 60 lbs. in 17 weeks. He's looking good- and he says so am I! Good luck to you!

Good Morning Family,

Thanks to everyone who wrote to spur me on past my first plateau. I was feeling really blue yesterday, partly from the stalled weight loss and partly because I haven't been comfortable going out walking alone and my walking partner is out now for the winter because she won't walk when it's cold. (I walk through all kinds of weather and actually prefer to walk when the air outside is cooler since I'm in the hot flash stage of my life. :-)<\P>
You, my beloved WLS family, caused me to do some soul searching and I realized just how important walking is to my successful weight loss. My daughter has now started walking to school.I go with her to the halfway point, then turn around and come home. I only have to walk half of it alone and that's nice. I have Ruby, my puppy dog, to keep my company on the way back. I get in my mile, my daughter gets in two miles.<\P>
I wonder if family members of other post-ops have lost weight right along with you like mine has? My family members snack a lot less now that I'm not the leader of the munchie pack. My only "snacks" now are sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding and sugar free popcicles. I also have chips and homemade salsa from time to time but I consider it a meal and am careful not to consume too many.<\P>
Thanks again to all those who wrote supportive E-mails and to those who prayed for me. I think I'm recovering from my bout with the blues.<\P>

Rhia, I really know where your at! I am at 8 weeks and only 22 lbs down and been on a plateau for 6 WEEKS! Plateaus happen- even early! I hated hearing it- but it will change. I took my measurements and I have changed alot in size, even tho that studpid scale has only gone up 2 lbs!!!! Stick it out Rhia- it's gonna happen. Email me and let me know how it's going.

October 17th. Dear Rhia: Greetings! I caught your comment on the message board today! Great, another Biker-Babe! Yeah, I must admit I would love to feel what it's like to wear cowhide too. I'm sorry to hear about your continued health problems; I hope this new dose of antibiotic's takes care of it. I'm feeling much better and plan on returning to work this coming Monday. Please take care. Sincerely, Lori Ann. P.S. How's the Fall weather in Oregon? Last time I asked I said Washington!

So good to see you back.....and the new picture looks wonderful!!! I know how you feel about walking alone, I live on a beautiful dead end gravel road. You think I go out and walk it? Nope, I stay inside and do my gazelle in front of the TV. Glad you are feeling better. I missed you! LOVE & PEACE Karen

First, I'd like to thank those who answered my questions about how soon we can eat salads and the conversion of 4X to regular sizes. I'm rather shocked that my starting size was a 30/32 though! But that just makes it all the more rewarding to have made it down to a size 18. Yahoo! The 18s are a little snug in the waist because I have a sizable hernia. But the butt and legs is loose on me.

The answers about salads were more mixed. I'm thankful for the warning about salad dressings possibly containing corn syrup though because I had no idea. On the issue of salad, some say they started eating salad at 6 weeks out and others told me to avoid them till I'm six months out! Holy cow! I don't know if I can hold out that long. I have been craving fresh, moist foods. Fruit and vegetables. However, I do tend to dump at the drop of a hat, if I eat one bite too much. I also dumped eating pasta, I should have known better. (But it smelled SO good!) Anyway, since there was no definitive answer on when we can start eating salad, I plan to try some type of raw vegetable and see if it stays down. If it does, I'll try a small salad and chew very well.

In other news, I'm getting better and stronger every day. And yesterday I discovered I'm starting to have REAL, HONEST TO GOD curves again!!! I'm so jazzed! My stomach is no longer bigger than my hips and breasts. :-)

I'm trying to walk a mile a day but my walking partner stands me up quite often. I need to get to the point where I don't mind going alone, with my four legged partner, Ruby. I tried two miles a day a couple of times a couple of weeks ago and it proved to be too much too soon. One of those times I made it to the mile point and had to have someone come get me. (Don't drink a lot and then go walking, the sloshing causes nausea.) I hope to start walking two miles a day very soon again though.

I will say, to post-ops, that if you are one prone to dump after surgery, try to look at it as the relief you so desperately need to get you out of the horrid misery of pre-dumping. Once you give back whatever caused your misery, you will feel better instantly. So don't try to avoid throwing up like you might if you had the flu. The good thing is that your tummy is quite small and it will be over quickly. (Isn't THAT a lovely piece of advice?)
