HEHEHEHE, reminds me of a story I forgot to share. I have lost 53lbs. and we were at the ball field watching my ten year old play baseball. While we were enjoying the game on the metal bleachers I turned and asked my dh if I could sit on his lap. He looked over and said "your A** is hurting cause it's gone - you don't have any cushion anymore so you'll start having to bring something to sit on". I LMAO because I knew it was true da butt was gone.

RE: 50 pounds gone! Response from Rosa M

Whether is the first 5, 10 or 50 you can come here and brag anytime we love to hear it! Congratulations you are 50 from the century club membership.

I find myself obsessed with watching those darn plastic surgery shows - However I did miss that one wish I had seen it. Anyhow I'll be going to the OH conference on Sat. 24 and Dr. Kratzer(?) will be there as a speaker he is a PS and specializes in TBL. I know I know...I am not even close to consider PS but I do want to be as informed and updated as possible - It took me over three years to decide to have WLS.

Feeding family?!

Jun 05, 2006

I was wondering for those of you post-op who are the caregivers/cooks - have you noticed that you are feeding everyone differently. I put the family on a diet. We no longer drink anything but water in the house (we have milk and occasionally I buy juice surprisingly it stay there), and my servings have been smaller with lots more protein servings (less carbs more meat) for family. I still cook nice traditional Mexican meals for my family just add more meat to ensure "fullness" feeling.

I am soooo glad I chose to have this surgery, I only hope I am not to late to change the habits of my 15year old son who is ow by about 15 to 20 lbs, I ask him to walk with me 'cause I don't feel safe and he'll go - otherwise he would decline the offer. I'd love to hear your stories.

RE: Stomach...Shrinking??

Jun 05, 2006

Maggie - I am almost 10 weeks out and have lost about 51lbs. I can drink lots of water and even have found that I like protein drinks. Soft foods are easy, but solids and even when I dare a little bit of carbs I do get sick . I am rarely hungry (only on a couple of occasions have I felt like em better eat), but eat 'cause I know I should.

I actually see people eating and wonder "how can they eat so much food" but quickly bring to mind that was how much I ate when I wasn't hungry (pre-op)! My mind hunger is catching up to my stomach hunger (thank God), cause now I just see stuff and don't even give it a second thought.

RE: Dinner out

Jun 05, 2006

I know what you mean - everywhere we went I associated food with it - let's take the kids to Great America, I'd say yea and be thinking "emmm funnel cake", fair "emmm corn dog"s". Now I'll treat my kids out to a hamburger but won't order fries or soda they don't even say "hey were are the fries" I am so glad I had this surgery I hope I am not to late to help my Kids (11 & 14.5 year old 14.5 is OW by about 15 to 20 lbs) make the right choices.

My youngest is very "carb" conscious - and is built like his father who is very athletic, my 15 year old unfortunately inherited his mothers genes and flavor for food.

RE: Positives..and Negatives

May 18, 2006

Ron-I had buyers remorse the first two days. I could not keeping anything down - not even the tiny (I mean tiny) sips of water that I was trying to drink. Also hospital gave me sugar free popsicles and jello - YUK my taste buds were extremely sensitive right after surgery, but now I live off of them. Mel I can't wait till I get the "positive" double takes!

Hello I am sooo glad I did this! I admit I did have buyers remorse when I got out of surgery but NOW...I am a little over six weeks out and have lost a total of 42 lbs (10 I lost before the surgery). I feel great - I am having a little trouble keeping the solids down - I don't think I am chewing enough! but I'm still learning. Again anyone out there thinking about it - JUST DO IT!

Dreams of food...

May 15, 2006

Sometime after my surgery (a few days) I was having the creepest dreams. First I dreamt that I was eating Frito Lays Sour Cream & Onion chips, I was stuffing them in my mouth, I could actually taste them - then all of the sudden I said to myself "stop, what are you doing? You just had WLS". Then I dreamed that I was in our old town buying some tacos from a taco guy I could smell them. I took the order home and was all excited that there was an extra order of enchiladas in the bag. I was saying "I'll eat those". It was the strangest dreams because they felt soooo real.

Because I haven't been good about posting I went back and copied some of my posts/reply to posts for your reading (I may have even added a little more feeling or thought from the originals)

April's entries

Apr 01, 2006

The entire month of April I was off of work...recouping from surgery.  I was off for six weeks (returned to work May 15, 2006).  I enjoyed my family and was enjoying the "rapid weight loss period".  I spent a lot of time with my husband as the kids were in school all day.  It was sort of a honey moon period - no stress of working all day, driving kids to practices, hurrying up to make dinner, etc...just straight time to be myself without the additonal stress.

I had no computer access so that is why there are no April entries....
