Tomorrow I start my one-week liquid diet to get ready for surgery on December 1st. I am super excited and just wish I could go to sleep tonight and wake up next Monday instead of tomorrow.
I couldn't find all the right vitamins yesterday so I did buy Centrum chewables, B-12 in the right dosage and method, and Iron. I couldn't find Calcium. I came home and was going to order from Bariatric Advantage again, got the same error, so I called and left the guy a voicemail. I hope I hear from someone so I can have what I need when I am cleared after surgery. At least I can start with my Centrum multi.
And I finally taste tested the Cappuccino Latte flavored Nectar protein. I thought it was going to be horrible, I had it built up in my head to be horrible, and it wasn't that bad. I am not a fan of fake flavors and I don't like candy or syrup or chocolate or even fruit, so I thought this would be impossible. It actually tasted okay. It was not thick and chunky like I thought it would be. I mixed it with milk and did only 1/2 serving for today. Yeah, my first success. I know that seems like a really dumb thing, but I have been struggling with the ideas around how I would get in enough protein. I plan to taste test my Roadside Lemonade later today. And I bought two premixed Isopures in the bottle at GNC yesterday. I'll try one of those tomorrow.
While my husband throws away all my cold Coronas taking up valuable shelf space in the fridge I say goodbye to my other dear friend, Coca Cola. Odd thing, I only visited each of these guys once or maybe twice per month, but I feel sort of a mourning for that satisfaction that comes from drinking a cold one. I'm looking forward to finding new satisfaction in the days, weeks, months and years to come.
Until then....
Final bit of testing today--EGD is done
Nov 22, 2008
I had my final pre-op work test done today; my EGD. As I was watching the cloudy white propofol run through my IV while I blurted to Dr. Barker "I want you to fix my broken parts and flip my flap". It made perfect sense to me but I am not sure if it made any sense to him. I've got a hiatal hernia and Barret's esophagus from all the years of throwing up acid. He said he'd fix it if he could during my consult, so I'm looking forward to hearing the results.
I'm going protein shopping today and hope to pick up some vitamins. I attempted to order my stuff from Bariatric Advantage but the order didn't go through so I never got anything from them. Very disappointing. My order for Nectar protein went through just fine and I got in 3 days later. I'll try again this weekend if I can't find what I need at the GNC or Wal Mart.
I will be taste testing my Nectar this weekend and plan to buy some unflavored protein to add to my homemade chicken broth. I was amazed to see how much sodium is in a can of 33% reduced sodium broth. Ugh! I am glad I had time to make mine without any added salt.
I can't believe my date is almost here. It seems like months ago when I received the call that I was approved. Dang my work schedule!!!!
