Sheryl was taken back to surgery earlier today to see if they could discover what the problem was. I was told that the doctor stated he prayed and asked God for wisdom - he thought everything was ok with the surgery but was promted to go in anyway. The small intestine attached behind the stomach was leaking and they pumped 3 liters or quarts or somthing out of her abdominal cavity. There is still another 2 but they inserted drains and tubes so that it could drain. Seems like all the liquid that was going into her was leaking out the surgery site - no wonder the bowel did not work. She is on a ventilator due to pneumonia, has some kind of swan shunt for something, is on oxygen and her blood pressure has not stabilized yet. She is still critical, will be in ICU for 3 or 4 days and probably in the hospital for 10-14 days. The next couple of days are crucial. They found that the siroccos of the liver was more severe than they thought - moderate to severe and her son Greg said that the surgery was a good thing since they found the siroccos in time and it can be treated. Doctor said that left unchecked it probably would have taken her life in 2 or 3 years.

1/9/03 Sheryl was taken into emergency surgery. She's having difficulty breathing and her blood pressure spiked. They are opening her back up to see what could be causing this to happen. From what I know at this time, her immediate family are at the hospital.
