Meeting with Dr. Mikami (My surgeon)

Sep 30, 2009

So, Monday the 28th of September I met with Dr. Dean Mikami of the OSU Medical Center. He is so awesome and so personable! He was easy to talk to and very informative. He knew what he was talking about. He made jokes, and made me feel at ease. Then again, he didn't joke too much to make me think otherwise. Anyways, in my appointment today, we discussed my mother's RNY surgery that she had because he had to completely remove the distal part of my mother's stomach because she had over 500 pollyps in it which could'e led to cancer. That being said, Dr. Mikami decided that I should have a Endoscopy to see if I had anything similar going on in there like my Mom did. He told me he told me he could do it this Friday (October 2nd, 2009). So I am planned to go in at 6:30AM and my endoscopy is scheduled for 7:30AM. Ok, so that was easy to digest.. Here comes the kicker... they also scheduled my surgery too... Yep, it's scheduled for October 8th, 2009 at 10:30AM. I have to be there at 8:30AM!!!!!!!! Seriously, I am at 7 days away as I am writing this today.. I am so excited!

On another note, I have 50 million things I need to get done at home before I go in... My husband and I put our house up for sale 2 weeks ago so I've been making sure it was all together, well I have a few projects that need completed for me to feel 100% in case there in a showing after the surgery when I am unable to get everything together so I need to get all those things done. I seriously didn't think I'd get in for surgery until the end of October if not November and here I am a week away!

We are in the process of working out child care while I'm in the hospital so my hubby can stay with me. Although my work schedule before I go in works out perfectly... I work Wednesday (the night before) at 7pm until Thursday morning at 7am. I will leave work, go home pick up my husband and kids, change my clothes, and go straight to the hospital. I figured why wait another day because I can sleep all day during surgery and while I am waiting for the anesthesia to wear off. I'll have plenty of time to sleep from working all night. I think the only down fall is that work is going to be a long night because I will be anxious to go to the hospital in the morning, not to mention I can't eat after midnight.. Oh well, who cares. I will have a good dinner and I'll be set! I'm so excited. Wish me luck, and please remember to keep me in your prayers!
