6 months post op

Apr 29, 2010

Today, I am a little past 6 months post op. (Almost at 7 months, actually) I'm very excited to say that as of today's date, since my highest weight, I have lost 91 pounds!!! Since surgery, I have lost 79 pounds. I am totally amazed !! I am no longer considered obese and I never thought I'd be excited about being overweight! As of today, my BMI is 27. I weight 148 pounds ,almost the weight I put on my driver's license (HAHA). I'm trying to think of the things I wanted to know when I was checking out other's blogs before my surgery... Today, I mostly wear a size medium AND I can wear Victoria Secret panties in a medium too!!! Most of my clothes are a 12-14 BUT the other day I bought a dress (it was stretchy) and it was a size 8 and it fit and looked pretty good if I do say so myself! I am 23 pounds to my goal weight of 125 pounds. I have some excess skin that I'm thinking I'll need a tummy tuck in order to get rid of, and I'm wanting a breast augmentation to restore my little deflated balloons (ha!). Nothing ridicuous, just re-inflating!

I am able to eat most things (obviously not sugar) but I do really struggle with rice. I had never heard of anyone having that issue before until after I had the surgery and then found out that even my dad struggled with rice after his surgery. I have noticed I have grouchy pouch days, some days I can only handle a couple of bites of something and other days it's like I'm constantly hungry. I have tried to be very careful about listening to my pouch though when it says it's getting full, I quit eating.

On another note, my hubby and I went to the park the other day and took pictures, and for the first time ever (since I was like a teenager) I actually liked the pictures of me.  Oh, and I did lose quite a bit of my hair from about 2.5  months out until just recently. I was terrified because it was coming out in clumps... LITERALLY! I was thankful though because before my surgery I had a TON of hair now not so much but I've already started seeing regrowth around my neck and ears and I'm just thankful that I didn't lose it all and have bald spots. It definitely is thinner now and even my pony tail is smaller. I'm also dealing with some anemia right now but I have always struggled with that since I was little. All that being said, I would do this surgery over again in a HEART BEAT!
