Celeste, I have a friend in real life that I met here on AMOS who went through the same exact thing. Her angel died from complications after having Gastric Bypass and it was a couple of months before her own upcoming surgery. I don't know how she gathered the strength to do it, but somehow she did. The chances of what happened to your friend are VERY small and the chances of it happening twice are EVEN SMALLER. If you're truly not ready to have the surgery, then put it off a few months. I know that may seem like a lifetime but it's really not. My surgery got postponed 1 month and I thought I was going to die (figuratively speaking of course). But I didn't. The next month came and I had my surgery. Everything went just fine. Anyway, if you're ready then you're ready. But if you're not, I promise it won't hurt anything to wait a little while until you can get past your shock and grief. God bless!

Celeste - I read Pam's profile and yours. Both of you were and are equally excited to have the chance at this surgery. Keep the faith, and go where you heart guides you. You're in our prayers.

Losing you fried at this stage in your journey must be one ooof the hardest things that you havae to live with, but know that with prayer all things are possible. God's says to ask in his name and you will receive. Just pray about your situation. Know that there is a better life for you and your children when you are on the losing side. May God's Love, Peace and Jopy be with you and your family at this hard time. Gwen

Just read your profile...this was part of the last entry "Man what I life I will have. Because I decided to put me first and have this surgery as my tool. God bless you all. and I hope the lord has touched you the way he has me." I am sorry for your pain, and the anguish you are feeling about this decision. It sounds to me like she would have wanted you to do this. Its hard to lose someone, i agree, but they dont want you to stop living too. Remind yourself that you are doing this for your family...to make your time with them more happy and healthy. I will remember you in my prayers..:) GOod luck!!

I miss her daily but know she is with me to. Don't give up your dream of becoming a new person through the weight loss surgery. continue your quest for a new you. Good luck we will all be thinking about you on your surgery date. Becky

Celeste, It is tough enough to see some of the memorials on this site....but to have someone you know pass away....I cannot imagine. All I can say is..knowing the risk....I felt that I had a higher risk of dying from an obesity related disease than from the surgery. That is what got me through this. Only you know what is right for you. Best of luck with your journey.
