Martin Valley Bariatrics Bariatric Center

I have not yet met Dr. Fallang. My infor. session is scheduled on May 31. I have been very impressed with the staff. They we're very helpful and through with the insurance info.I will update after the session.
I HAVE JUST BEEN TOLD THAT DR. FALLANGS ASSOCIATE WILL BE DOING THE SURGERY..I WILL BE MEETING WITH HIM ON JULY 24TH.

I met Dr. Fallang during the consultation. Whatever doubts I had about the surgery are all gone. Dr. Fallang seemed to be a caring person and dedicated to what he does. He was able to answer all the questions I wanted to know and others that I didn't think of during the consultation. He tells the good and the bad. I believe in Dr. Fallang and his staff. Dr. Fallang's staff is great. They are heads above the best. They handle all my paper work for my insurace and had me approved in 5 days. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
***** UPDATE *****
I INFORMED THAT DR.FALLANG WILL NOW BE DOING HIS WORK OUT OF SYCAMORE HOSPITAL IN MAIMISBURG, OH.
*******************************************
UPDATE: Dr. Derrick Martin is now going to do my surgery.

Initially, I met Dr. Fallang at the introduction session. I came away from those hours very impressed with his clinical knowledge, thoroughness in answering questions, and candidness about the WLS processes.
Dr. Martin and Dr. Fallang are now associates. Dr Martin is even more exceptional in his demeanor, knowledge, and manner. Dr. Martin metriculously performed my surgery and aftercare as if I were one of his own children. I could never had found better care anywhere in the world!
The staff is exceptional! There is no other word to adequately describe them. I drove them crazy with calls to get a quicker surgical date -- literally. But not only did they work diligently with me, they remained patient and cheerful while making a quicker date happen. Major kudos for this team of professionals.

I liked Dr. Martin for the simple fact that he doesn't put up with any crap. He told me when I left that I needed to do what he said because he didn't want to operate on me again. My family liked him because he answered all of their questions postop and didn't try to make it pretty. We liked that. Also, Eric and I both really liked his staff in his DAYTON, OHIO office. One nurse, Anne, takes care of all WLS patients. Every call we have placed to her has been returned in a matter of minutes, and to us, their service to their patients is just as important as their techniques.
FOR MORE NOTES ON DR. MARTIN, PLEASE SEE ERIC BOYD'S PROFILE.

I just got to meet DR.Martin June30th and he seems to know what he's talking about. He's a very
nice guy someone you can
talk to and not be intimidated by him.
He drew me a picture of what he'll be doing and explained everything to me.I left feeling very good about him doing my surgery.I hope this doesn't change!Ha!Ha!

My dealings with surgeons is really my reason for posting. I started out with Dr. Fallang's office here in Middletown. They were very helpful and thourough and took care of insurance and everything. My girlfriend, Jammie, had gone through the procedure a few months earlier and Dr. Fallangs office was very attentive to her. Dr. Fallang's office...with a short delay??? sent my insurance papers in and I was approved the same day. (How about that!) Here's where things began to go awry.
I am a teacher and I was approved about June 15th. Due to work..I need to have this done and be able to teach come September...shouldnt be a huge problem with scheduling at most offices. I called Fallang's office and left messages...in fact I called them 7 times in a five day period...no return call. (Hmm...where is the attentive care.) Finally they called back and told me they were scheduling into October and werent even going to schedule me until they catch up with other patients. Hmm...not good. However...enter my ownryness.
My girlfriend's surgery was not performed by Fallang...it was performed by Dr. Derrick Martin of Dayton, OH. Dr. Martin has been working with Fallang the past few months and I was quite impressed with him and the care he showed her.
So...I was already approved...Dr. Martin was in my "Network"...I called his office and made an appointment. My girlfriend went with me on 6/27 and Dr. Martin's eyes lit up when he saw us..he remembered both of us from April. He checked me out..was very professional..but not coldly so..and (most importantly..I had confidence and trust in him. Not only that...but they called THE NEXT DAY...and scheduled me for July 27th.
One sidebar...the day my insurance company notified me, (and Fallang's office, presumably)of my change of Surgeon (and who the payment check is mailed to)..you bet they called me...and wanted to schedule me for July 9...with Dr. Martin (but through Fallang's office) Oh how their minds change.
After talking with Jammie I decided to wait until the 27th and stay with Martin's office.
Well...after that ordeal (I mean your ordeal...reading that volume.) I can not say enough about Dr. Martin and has staff, particularly his assiatant Anne. Not many people know that he performs bariatric surgery and if you can get up to Dayton to see him, I can not recommend him enough.

Excellent surgeon with great ability and bedside manner! I was reassigned to him 2 days before surgery and he was a great resource. He is an advocate to help the experience be as painless and trouble-free as possible. My family and friends loved him and he took the time to really listen to my fears and answer all of my questions. I give him a 10 on a scale of 1-10. My incision is perfect and pain totally manageable!

I haven't met with Dr M yet however have been assured that I will be meeting with him prior to surgery. I initially was going thru Dr Fallang's office and expected Dr F to be doing my surgery. Dr M is now Dr F's partner and comes highly recommended by the office staff. I've been told Dr M is very personable and has teenagers at home who are giving him a hard time. Well, I've been there and this only adds a sense of humanness to him for me. I also learned he has done about 300 Rny's and was previously a Thorasic surgeon. At the group meeting in February 2001 I met with the staff and Dr F. I have done my research, Dr F came highly recommended by a friend who has lost 115 lbs. This friend also informed me that the hospital he uses (Middletown Regional treated her like a queen, oooh I like that). If he chose Dr M to join his practive then I'm going to trust his judgement. I got the distinct feeling that my health was his #1 priority on the 2 occasions that we met, the first was his monthly meeting he hosted in November 2000. The meeting was very informative and no rock was left unturned. Dr F went through the entire surgerical procedure, why he chose Rny over the others, the good and bad of each surgery type and the risks as well as the benefits of Rny. The office staff are A+ staff. I don't know that I've ever found a more careing group of people or more hard working bunch of individuals anywhere. I had a mix up with my insurance at the beginning due to rollover problems with new insurance company etc. I won't go into that however, everyone at the Dr's office was absolutely wonderful and never gave up on trying to do anything they could to help. Thanks to all of them for their perseverence. My surgery is scheduled for September 18,2001. I'm waiting with humble anticipation for my 'Independence Day'.

6-21-01. Haven't met Dr. Martin yet but I hear good things and Dr. Fallang had him assist while waiting for his hospital surgical privilages to be accepted at Middletown Regional, so he knows Dr. Fallang's routine.
Info session on 1-11-01 was excellent! He answered many of my questions before I could even ask. He is very personable and thorough. You can tell that he cares about his patients. I am hoping to be approved by my insurance sooooon so I can get a date scheduled. I hate waiting!!

Dr. Fallang seems very knowledgable and genuinely very caring. He explains during the consultation why he chooses to do the rny over the others and what the health risks are. I do wish that the consults were individual rather than a group setting, but I certainly understand why they're not. His staff is absolutely wonderful. He runs his office like a well oiled machine. Rhonda has called me on Sat. (when the office was closed) She was in there working, trying to get every ones paperwork out as quick as possible. Lynn called on a Friday night about 7:15. She too was working diligently to get everyones details together. (She's the office mgr.) That is dedication. Great Job!
I am now post op and I am just as happy with Dr. Fallangs office. Dr. Martin was actually the surgeon that performed my surgery and he did a wonderful job. Im healing well and Dr. Fallang and Dr. Martin both made sure that all our questions were answered pre and post op. I am now just trying to obey all their instructions so that I don't develope complications. I got to meet with Dr. Martin 3 days prior to my surgery and he did an exam and spent some time talking to me.
