I met Dr. Fallang on April 25th at the informational meeting and he was the most caring, understanding and very upfront and knew his stuff......I was called with a sooner date and it would be with Dr. Derrick Martin who is in the practice with Dr. Fallang so i was very nervous as to what to expect.......i met Dr. Martin June 4th and he was all i expected and more he is the greatest! I found out from the preop testing that i have a hiatus hernia and my gallbladder definitely has to be removed all this at the time of my surgery Dr. Martin said it would all take 1 1/2........i definitely will be a totally new person i can't wait! I would rate Dr. Martin on scale 1-10 a 20!

I met Dr. Derrick Martin this morning. He was very friendly and had a great disposition! He had a great sense of humor, which I appreciated, since I tend to crack jokes and talk non-stop when I'm nervous.

I didn't get to spend a lot of time with him, which I wish hadn't been the case, but hopefully all will go well. Overall, I am very pleased so far. Dr. Martin's and Dr. Fallang's office staff is the best!!!!! They are wonderful!

Dr. Fallang is a very informing doctor. His seminar was lenghty, but did go over everything. His staff seems to be polite, but make sure they put you on the list for the seminar.I missed my first date, because someone did not put me in the computer the 1st time.He answered all of my questions.
My surgery was with his partner Dr Martin.
He performed my surgery on 12-4-01 and seemed to be a good surgeon.I was disappointed with his promptness the day of surgery.Dr Martin was over 2 hours late for my surgery. When he got there,he told me that he told me on our appointment date, that he is always late on tuesdays.I thought to myself,if you are always late on tuesdays, why don't you change your schedule on tuesdays or get a day planner,That really pissed me off.It was very UN professional. It seems he just had a bad day and I do like him and he is a very great surgeon.I would recommend him and he is a great surgeon.

Dr. Martin is a very pleasant man to deal with. I look forward to him being my surgeon, I felt very comfortable with him and I recamend him to anyone who is thinking about having surgery. So far I have not one negative thing to say about him.

My first immpression was pretty good. My impression of him did change after my surgery. He seems to rush me through my appointments and I just seem like a number to him not a patient. He only visited me once when I was in the hospital. He does not have a structured after care program. He gives a book to read. He has great surgical competence but his bedside manner is awful. I would give Dr. Martin a C- as an overall rating. These are my impressions of him. Other people I have talked to have not felt this way about him.

I first attended the information session with Dr. Martin's partner, Dr. Fallang. Dr. Fallang was very thourough and the information session went very fast. My husband went with me and after the session, we spent about an hour alone with Dr. Fallang. He was very patient and very honest. He answered all of our questions. After the session, my husband was ready to support my decision to have the surgery. I met Dr. Martin last week and he seemed very nice. He was much more serious than Dr. Fallang and I liked that. It did concern me that I went to his office for a physical and he didn't examine me at all. We just talked. The nursing staff seemed very nice and helpful. They were very blunt. I appreciated that. Dr. Martin did tell us about extra steps he takes to make sure that we do not have complications after surgery. I'm feeling better about this decision all the time.

I have not met the doctor yet but have had 2 contacts with the office personel. Very helpful in answering my questions about how to get started. I was told after I get my appointment with my dietician that BC/BS requires she will help me with my Diet History. Ok, update. They are very helpful at first THEN, when things don't go extremely smooth for them they back off a lot. I got all the information and all I need it my psych evaluation turned in and its like no one is around. My doctor has changed from Dr. Fallang to Dr Martin. They are both in the same office

My first contact with the Surgical Weight Loss Center in Middletown was at the info session that I was required to attend. Dr Fallang was very clear about all the risks and benefits of SWL. He seems very passionate about his chosen specialty, and he answered all questions thoroughly. I finally met my surgeon, Dr Martin, at the office physical three weeks before my surgery. He seemed very compassionate and tried to keep a light mood during our time together. He was on top of things! He detected a heart murmur, and made me get that checked out. It turned out to be nothing serious, but I'm glad he was being cautious. The entire staff at the SWLC has been great. The nurse I spoke to, Nadine, was down to earth and very knowledgable, I have had no problems with paperwork being handled timely, etc.. Post-op lifestyle changes are heavily stressed. I received a whole booklet that they put together that was full of suggestions and what to expect after surgery. They made me feel very comfortable and informed.

I havent met with him but did go to information session and met his partner Dr Fallang he was a really nice man and explained all the types of weightloss surgery. I did ask about the laproscopic and he doesnt recommend it.he staff came at the end of meeting to help people in the different stages. Everyone that i have talked to at the office has always been polite and helpful. All the risk of the surgery was talked about in detail. I think that surgical competence is far more importanrt. I met Dr. Martin after i had pre-op done and he seemed friendly and nice. If anyone else has had him i would like to hear from you on your opinions.

I really like Dr. Martin - he is very nice and helpful and loves to draw diagrams to explain what he is doing. The office staff is wonderful and very friendly. I just wish they had a more outlined booklet of what you can/should eat as opposed to what not to. Other than that - they are always eager to answer any questions or concerns I have.
