Dr. Mary Murphy was very pleasant and informative at my evaluation appointment. She wanted to be sure I understood the surgery, the need for after care and support group attendance, and that all my questions were answered. Her staff has been very cooperative and suppportive at my office visit as well as during telephone follow-ups and questions.

11/27/2002 I had my pre operation exam from Dr. Hyland yesterday and I found him to be very patient. I thought that he was much more open and caring than I thought he was in our initial meeting. I had a list of questions to ask him and there was no rush at all. He made it a point to answer every one of the in detail, and to make sure that my wife & I were comfortable with them.

he is very big on aftercare & stress the point all of the time that the operation is just a tool to achive the long term weight loss, and most importantly ones attitude will be the main source of accomplising the goal. Since I am a avid walker already he was very hopeful that I would be back up to my 4.0 miles that I do now. I will up date after my surgery on 12/02/2002

I am now six months post-op and doing very well. Dr's Hyland & Breslaw have done an excellent job and really do take a high interest in their patients after care. Both respond to the calls that I have made very quickly, and are in no rush to get me off the phone. I would send any one that I knew to my doctors .
I am back to walking 4+ miles 5X per week along with swimming.

My surgeon and his office staff were wonderful. He took the time to explain the procedure and answer all my questions. The nurses were kind and helpful and his insurance coordinator was fabulous.

I really liked meeting Dr. Mary! she was very nice to me. Dr. Mary was very excited that I was already drinking the protien, quit the sodas and caffine and was working out at a gym! I don't have to lose anymore weight before surgery but if I do she said that's OK! She won't cancel my surgery. I had a big fear about that. She was thrilled that me and my husband want to have our surgerys together on the same day. She said she would even get us a hospital room together. Dr. Mary went over the surgery with us in great detail, and even though I have been studying WLS for over a year she did tell us new things.
The best thing I could say about Dr. Mary is that she was easy to talk to and really wanted to get to know me and my husband.

I met Dr. Mary Murphy yesterday 5/20/03 at my pre op apppontment. I've heard very good things about her from this website. I had met her father Dr. Leo Murphy at the seminar I went to in March. I have nothing to say but good things and praise about Dr. Mary Murphy. She really made my husband and I feel great and assured that we were in great hands. She answered all of the questions we had for her. We did not feel rushed or anything. It was a "Fantastic" experience.
I received a packet for before and aftercare surgery to what was expected. It was and still is very useful.
I would rate Dr. Mary Murphy a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10!!! Anyone who chooses her as a doctor is in good hands and is lucky!!

I had her lead the seminar that I went to in Bakersfield. I was really impressed at how down to earth she was and she seemed so competent. Then when I was assigned her as my surgeon I was thrilled I've always felt more comfortable with a female doctor. She took her time to explain every aspect of the surgery and calmed my fears. She told me if you follow my directions and adhere to my recomendations you'll be fine. I feel blessed to have her.

Dr Mary is fabulous. She is not a blah blah blah Dr. who speaks to hear her own voice. She will tell you what you need to hear, if you want to hear it or not. She was the surgeon who did the seminar I went to and I was pleased to find out she would be my surgeon. I have heard that her bedside manner is 5 star.
She is part of a group that puts more attention into your care from the first time you talk to them, than any other Dr. I have ever met.

She's a DOLL! Dr. Mary Murphy was very upfront about the surgery without being rude. She's so sweet and I am very glad to have her be my surgeon.

March 31, 2003,
I just received my paperwork and flight information and I have been assigned to Dr. Mary Murphy at Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego. I go on April 10th for appointments with the surgeon, internist and psych. Kaiser pays my flight and taxi while there. I haven't met Dr. Murphy yet so I will post again after the appointment.

I had all my consultation appointments on 4/10. I was quite pleased with Dr. Mary Murphy. She seemed to really show an interest in me and never made me feel that she was in a hurry. She was very clear on the possible side effects and what she wants with her patients. I had already begun changing my habits by giving up sodas and caffine 2/1/2003. I have been exercising and have been taking the ProComplex for about 3 weeks. I had actually lost 3 pounds since my orientation. Dr. Murphy said for me to continue to work on losing weight and to make sure I don't gain any or my surgery could be cancelled. I feel I am in good hands.
