So far, I really like Dr. Stickland, his staff and support group have been very informative and helpful.

My first impression of Dr. Givens and his partner Dr. Strickland was favorable. The first contact I had was September 2002. I was very impressed with the information provided by the surgeons and their staff at an educational seminar. I researched, studied, and investigated the procedure. It took me two years to make my final decision to have the surgery. Each time I called their office I was treated with respect. The office was very efficent in scheduling my appointments and helping me to know what was needed for the insurance company. I think it was their preparation that got a quick response -approval! yea!- from the insurance company. I had to get a couple of days off work for the preoperative requirements. I have used all my alotted days, so I have to be docked in pay. They require a four hour education session that is packed with information about how to prepare for surgery, what is involved in the surgery, what to expect in the hospital, diet for the first five weeks and first year. We had visitors from several departments. The dietition took time to explain our new requirments and dietary considerations. I laso have had several tests, heart, legs, blood work, etc. that require me to miss more work. Overall I am pleased with the education, competence, and professionalism of the doctors and staff.

My first impression of Dr. Strickland was one of confidence. He was cordial, yet very upfront about the risks involved with this type of surgery. He displayed a genuine concern and interest in my well-being. I felt very comfortable with him. When I first considered WLS, I consulted my family physician and asked his help in finding the BEST surgeon in the area. I must admit that I have not been disappointed with his recommendation.

My first impression of Dr. Givens and the team at Riverside Surgical Group (RSG) was relief. The whole team treats you with respect and approaches you with a sincere desire to help. Overtime I became even more impressed with the how the myriad of prequisite activities and training had been "systematized" by RSG. The pre-surgery training is thorough and focuses upon all aspects of the surgery and lifestyle change required. I will have to add more about the group after my surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Strickland was that he was the type of doctor that was more than willing to explain the negatives and positives of surgery and life after surgery. He also encouraged me to research and make the decision for myself- no one else. He didn't pressure me at all. He is totally for self-education about the whole process, but was very willing to sit and listen to me and answer all of my questions.

My opinion of him has not changed. He is awesome!! Dr. Strickland's office is very well informed and professional. He and his office staff emphasize aftercare by strongly encouraging involvement in their support group.

I would rate Dr. Strickland a perfect 10.

In my overall opinion, surgical competence is way more important to me than bedside manner, but that question didn't enter my mind in my experience with Dr. Strickland because he has a wonderful bedside manner and is a very competent surgeon.

I would recommend Dr. Strickland to everyone. He is an awesome doctor!!

VERY NICE.EASY TO TALK TO MAKES YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE.

OVER TIME LIKE HIM EVEN MORE.

OFFICE STAFF VERY HELPFUL AND POLITE.

THERE WAS NOTHING I DID NOT LIKE.

THAT THEY ARE IN GOOD HANDS WITH HIM AND HIS PARTNER DR.JAMES GIVENS.

AFTERCARE IS A MUST.

VERY STRUCTURED AFTERCARE AND PRECARE PROGRAM

THEY MAKE YOU AWARE OF ALL RISKS, THEY HAVE A GREAT PROGRAM TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF EVERYTHIMG.

ON SCALE OF 1TO10 I GIVE THEM A 20.

BOTH ARE GREAT.

I met with Dr. Givens and he was awesome! I feel very comfortable knowing that he will be the one operating on me! He has done 100's of surgeries, both lap and open! He has another surgeon in the operating room with him at all times, this really made me feel like I was going to be in good hands! I would rate my surgeons at 10+!

Dr. Givens and Stricklands office could make some positive changes to the nursing staff and the policy on returning phone calls. When someone has had surgery or is about to have surgery, they are already scare and would like to have their phone calls returned promptly. There is nothing I would change about Dr. Givens or Dr. Stickland, but I do think that a more qualifed staff to handle WLS patients could benefit their office.
