Henry Pearce Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Pearce has one of the most kindest bedside manners! He's loving, tender and gentle. When I first went to his office, he came across as a very intelligent man, with a soft voice, very infomative, but yet really wanted to help people. He usees a lot of eye contact, a lot of touch. These two qualities, many people have a problem with, especially touching a "fat" person! Good heavens, we really wouldn't want to rub off on them *S* His office staff was the best, made me feel as if I'd just come home! Dr. Pearce pulls no bunches at all. He lets everyone know, he can do the surg, which is a big risk, BUT the real work is ours to do. BUT he's there for us all the way! I would highly recommend him to anyone!

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. PEARCE WAS A POSITIVE ONE. HE TOOK HIS TIME AND DID NOT RUSH ME. HIS OFFICE STAFF WAS NICE. ON THE DAY OF SURGERY I WAS LATE BECAUSE WE GOT LOST. DR. PEARCE WAITED FOR ME AND HE PUT ME AT EASE FOR THE SURGERY. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE HAVING THIS SURGERY. I FEEL HE IS THE BEST. DR. PEARCE TELLS IT ALL HE WILL TELL THE BENEFITS AND RISKS. HE PULLS NO PUNCHES. HIS AFTERCARE PROGRAM IS WONDERFUL. IF I HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL I CALL AND HE RETURNS MY CALL THAT DAY.

My first impression of Dr. Pearce, was that he truly cared about the work he is doing. My impression is the same as the day he came into the pre-op and said, well, Helen Gayle, you ready to do this, ok, lets go! Dr Pearce has a very devoted staff, 24-7 they are there for you. I have no dislikes, he has a very professional demeanor and a listening ear. Future patience should know to be honest and up front with Dr Pearce and he will get you through the rough times. He is very concerned with the aftercare, taking his directions for a healthy recovery and successful weight loss. The aftercare is structured but he leaves a lot of that up to the patients discretion. He was intense when describing the risk. He told of the losses and side effects of the surgery. In a seminar he explained what can go wrong, and how he takes preventive measures to keep those things from happening to his patience. I rate Dr Pearce between 1-10, an 11. His bedside manner and surgical competence is Excellent! With his lust for life and happiness I believe it gives him the faith to do good for all.

Dr. Henry Pearce is an excellent doctor and surgeon! I have the utmost respect for him. My older sister works at Edmond Medical Center; she recommended him to me. He has a very low death rate (1 in 800) and a low rate of complications. He is a very kind man.
I was disapointed with his office staff, however. My first follow-up visit after the surgery was a disaster. I had to wait 2 and a half hours to see Dr. Pearce for 2 minutes! Dr. Pearce's staff rushed me out of the office without an explaination or appology, even when I pointed out that I didn't get to ask the doctor any questions at all concerning my diet, when I could go back to work, etc. I complained the next day to the office manager, and he appologized for the visit. Evidently, Dr. Pearce had some emergency patients to care for that day and did not have time to give me the care I deserved. He had Dr. Pearce call me the next day, and Dr. Pearce also appologized to me. I am satisfied with his appology and look forward to seeing him in March for my next follow-up visit.

I havent personally met my surgeon. I went to a group session in his office where I was weighed, shown a film, spoken to by a nurse, an insurance assistant and Dr. Pearce himself. He was very very professional and took any and all questions. He was very honest about the good and the bad of the surgery. Explained thoroughly what to expect etc... Overall very impressive. Many years of experience and very up to date on all new meds and procedures etc... I know patients of his and have heard nothing but good.
I am 11 months post op and want to stress the importance of having a good and experienced surgeon. Mine was... He has been doing this type of surgery for over 20 years and knows all the pros and cons. When he finds something can be done in a better way he changes to that. I want to stress that lots of surgeons are jumping on the band wagon to do this surgery. Find a surgeon like Dr. Pearce that have experience and truely cares about him patients first and foremost.. this is NOT an area to bargain shop in. I recommend Henry Pearce whole heartedly.....

My first impression of Dr. Pearce was ok. He was a little older than what I had expected but he has a lot of expertise in this field. He has been doing bariatrics for over 30 years. His nurses were great, and I enjoyed them. Dr. Pearce does many seminars and has a booklet and video as well as a cassette tape for his patients to view prior to surgery. He is so full of good information. His booklet includes high protein recipes and a list of things you need to try and eat. I think he will be great to work with once I get thru the insurance nightmare.
I had my second session with Dr. Pearce last week and I am getting more and more excited. He advised me that I would be on a blood thinner for a month following surgery to prevent any blood clots and pulmonary embolisms. He is very extensive and knowledgeable and the after care program he has seems great. He stresses the importance of support groups and really thinks that everyone needs to attend. I am going to enjoy my journey with Dr. Pearce.
