Henry Pearce Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

He was very knowledgable.
Very informative. Would like to have longer after care available. Does not have much structured after care except monthly meetings that are attended by various people that have had or are thinking about having surgery.
He does go over the risks.
Overall would rate him a 10 as a surgeon. He is best as a surgeon which is what he is.
Would like some long term structured medical tracking by surgeons office on a bi-annual basis just for research reasons. Would be willing to pay out of pocket for these check ups.

First of all I didn't know what to think. I called to get the consult and the lady that answered the phone told me that I would have to go to a seminar first. I wondered what typr of place would make you go to a seminar before you could see the Dr? Well I waited until the next available date and then went. I was really glad that I did go to the seminar. Even though I had (in my mind) studied everything that I could possibly study on the subject of the bariatric surgery. I actually learned a lot from just hearing it straight from the doctors mouth. Not only did Dr Pearce instruct the seminar himself, but he had his whole team there and introduced them as well. He even had a well known plastic surgeon there to talk with us and to show us some pictures of what he could do for us after the gastric bypass and had reached our goal weight. Dr. Pearce was very straight forward and to the point. He never tried to hide anything, he gave us all the possibilities right up front. I don't feel like I can go wrong with Dr. Pearce and his team!

First Dr. appointment was June 12th.My first impression of my surgeon was really --trust. I had heard a lot abouit his surgeries from my knee Dr. But Dr Pearce put me at ease as soon as he walked into the exam room. All of his staff makes me feel very comfortable to know that they will be there if I need any information or help.Dr Pearce also covered the risks that some have with this surgery. To me everyday is a risk. You can only take it one day at a time. The least thing I didn't like-- not much except I wanted the surgery the next day after seeing Dr Pearce. Ha HA !!I We set up my surgery date that day. This waiting is what is rough.

Dr. Pearce was a great deal of help in making the dicision to have surgery. He is a great Dr. All the office staff were eager to answer questions and get me hooked up with people who had already had the surgery to ask questions. The after care program he offers is one of the better ones I have heard of and he treats the whole person not just the condition. He talked to me about the surgery risks on our first office visit. He is a very upfront and honest Dr. I would recomend this Dr. to anyone who wanted to even learn about the surgery.

My very first impression of Dr. Pearce and his staff was that they really knew their stuff!!!! My impression has not changed. I feel like those people saved my life and they are my best friends in the world! I would describe his office staff as Highly competent. They can answer most any questions that come up quickly and easily, and correctly. The only thing I didn't like is that after surgery, I now see a different Dr. and I wish I could still see Dr. Pearce. I think that what everyone should know about Dr. Pearce is that he REALLY knows what he is doing. There were no suprises. He is very thorough. After care is the most important part of the program. It is important to start walking and doing what he says is best for you, he did not just make this stuff up, after many years of fine tuning, he has pretty much perfected this process. Dr. Pearce has a little booklet that he gives his patients with every possible piece of information you could need in it. It outlines the surgery, the hospital stay, aftercare, support groups, everything. It is very structured. He addressed the risks of surgery very openly and matter of factly. Dr. Pearce does not pull any punches. He is straight up. Overall, I researched this surgery and surgeons for quite some time and I would have to rate Dr. Pearce and his staff as excellent!!!!!! And his surgical compentence and bedside manner are just awesome!

I went to the seminar on 07/09. I was very impressed with Dr. Pearce. He explained all types of Bariatric Surgery, the risks, and even shared with some of his touching personal experiences with patients. I ;eft knowing what I needed to get for my insurance co and a referral for the psyc consult which I was able to schedule for 07/19.

Dr. Pearce is a very good surgeon, He did surgery (hurnia) on one of my sons a couple of years ago. So I feel really comfortable with him and his ability. He has performed over 3,000 surgeries. So when my regular doctor referred me to him for gastric surgery, i was not worried. His staff are friendly. Dr. Pearce has told me that the Edmond hospital has a section of the hopistal just for this kind of surgery and staff that are trained to take care of paitents. the only thing holding us back now is the insurance.
06/12/2002 - I went to a seminar on this surgery and learned a lot. Dr. Pearce is a very caring man. He is trying to find ways to help people that don't have any insurance to pay for this surgery. By finding groupd that would help pay or finding other avenues for them to try. Still waiting for insurance. I have to get an evaluation now, but that is the last thing. and I know that they will pay for the surgery, if not I beleive the Lord will provide.

I know I have selected a great surgeon and took his recommedation from others on this website. I was very upset and depression set in when I got the denial letter after the initial request to the insurance company. My mistake was letting the surgeon's office handle it all themselves. I took charge of everything myself with the appeal letter and got myself approved. Everything worked out in the end and I wouldnt have been able to do it without the help of this website. THANK YOU!!!!!!
