I liked Dr.Colberg the minute I met him.
I have 2 appointments with him and he is very
straight forward about what you are about to do.

He has all the infromation you need and answers
all of your questions. He is very easy to talk to and
he is happy to be doing the kind of work he does.
The fact that he enjoys helping others like myself is very important
to me. I am so happy to find a doctor that enjoys his field
and is so sensitive about his patients feelings

He also wants you to talk to others and which is very helpful.
The more informed you are the better you will do overall.

He does have a structured aftercare program and if you follow it
you will have sucess. He address all the risks of surgery
and is able to answer all those Q about 'what if"
He is able to talk with you and is not stiff necked at all. I felt like I finally found a doctor
who really understands where I am at and where I want to be and he is going
to help me get there. The surgery is not the end but the beginning of
what I need to do to become healthy.

Overall I would highly recommend him-Go and see him it will change your life.

I was originally scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Ernest Rosado, but have since decided to go with Dr. Colberg, for a number of reasons. I am scheduled to meet with Dr. Colberg on 10/11, and a tenative surgery date of 1/5/01. Based on my limited communication with Dr C's office, and dealing with Pat, I already feel like I'm in good hands. I have heard nothing but positive comments about the Doctor, and I will confirm that after my visit in October.

From the my 1st office visit i knew Dr. Colberg was the surgeon for me. He truely cares about his patients and i found him to be very compassionate. His secretary Pat is delightful. I had to wait almost 3 months for an appt. but it was worth it. Dr. Colberg stresses the importance of never missing a post-op appt. that is for the patients well being. there is alot involved o this surgery and many things were left for me to find out later but in some ways that was a good thing. I may have chickened out if i had known every last detail of everything involved such as diet restrictions post-op complications etc. Overall i would recomend Dr. colberg to anyone--he has been wonderful and always available when I've needed him--even in the middle of the night.

.My first impression was that he was a very understanding and careing doctor. And he took the time to find out what you would like to get out of life. And that is as good as gold to me to find a doctor that cares.Pat his office manager will try to help you with you needs.
And Pat is a very nice person who is careing too.
There is nothing that I least like about him.
He is a Harvard Medical school graduate.
He has been doing this type of surgery for 20 years.
From what i've heard he has a structured aftercare program, but after my surgery i'll explain more about it.
He addressed the risks of the surgery realistically, and with facts, not opinions.
He is an excellent doctor.
I can't expand on his bedside manner , because that i have yet to experience.

My first impression of Dr. Colberg is that he is very caring and wants to take all the necessary time with you. He gave me a two page list of post-op patiens that I can call at home. His assistant pat was also very nice and informative. He does emphasize aftercare. He addressed the risks of surgery. He has been doing bariactric surgery for 19 years. I feel you will be in very good hands with Dr. Colberg. He does have a lenghty list of pre-op tests. I was suprised at how extensive they are. However I guess he has to CYA. Future patients should know to expect a wait at his office. He doesn't rush his patients and takes all the time you need when it is your turn.
**Update 12/1 - saw Dr. Colberg on Monday 11/29. Had my pre-op exam. Everything went smoothly. Jefferson Hospital however kept me waiting for 2 hours to do my pre-op meeting with a nurse, an anesthesiologist and to cross and type my blood. When I told the nurse (who was first) that I thought it was deplorable that someone should be given an appointment and be made to wait that long she was extremely rude and by the time I walked out of her office I was crying. I am a busy woman and I resent having my time wasted. I also think that someone who is receiving a complain should take it, write it down, pass it on to the proper person and move on - not attack the patient/customer. That's it - hopefully the care will be better on the floor that it is in the pre-admission testing area.

Have had followups with Dr. Colberg and it is always a pleasant experience. He is always quite nice and actually showed my pics around the waiting room on my six month check up. I will see him again at 1 year out.

Dr Colberg is a very nice, patient, down to earth man who is very knowledgeable. Took a long time with me to answer all my questions and explain the procedure thoroughly.

My impression of him hasn't changed over my two visits --just had a very long wait on my second visit.

Pat, Dr. Colberg's receptionist, is very accomodating and helpful.

The negatives so far have just been the wait and the location of the office (at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Centre City, Philadelphia-parking is a nightmare).

Dr. Colberg stressed the importance of post-op check-ups, etc. and has a structured aftercare program. He explained all the risks of the surgery during his explanation of the procedure. So far, I rate Dr. Colberg excellent.

UPDATE: 8-2-00 - For anyone considering using DR.Colberg, HE IS THE BEST. I DEFINATELY recommend him to anyone. He has an awsome bedside manner. He checked on me everyday. HE IS AWSOME...

I seen Dr. Colberg on 3-15-00 and my mom went with me. I was very impressed with the doctor. He is very friendly and funny. He is personable. I am a very private person, and he made me feel very comfortable. You never feel rushed and you can ask as many questions as you want and he is very informative. He explains the surgery very well and you are given a list of post-ops to call. When you make your consultation, you want to allow enough time, because since you are not rushed, you will have a wait time in the waiting room, but since there are people who are pre-op and post-op in the waiting room it gives you a chance to talk with them. Pat is his office assistance, she is very polite and helpful. Even when I call her, I know she is extreamly busy, but she always has time for me and my questions. Doctor Colberg has been doing this type of surgery for a long time and he is very experienced. I put my full trust in him and I have talked with some of his previous patients and they also feel the same way. I recommend Doc. Colberg.

I think Dr.Colberg was very nice and friendly, and he completely put you at ease.

Dr. Colberg was very easy to talk to and spent a long time discussing my medical history, the reasons I wanted to have the surgery, how and why he performs the surgery type he does. He wanted me to understand the risks and benefits to the WLS.
His office staff was friendly and have always answered my questions when I have called. I respected their honesty regarding possible insurance problems.
