'this surgical practice is wonderful...Dr. Macura is absolutely wonderful...they don't hesitate to take the time to talk to you..about any concerns or problems...the staff is exceptional..and the entire process with this office has been pain free and terrific!!rnrnSandra..the nutritionist is very well informed and will spend time

' A very good friend recommended Dr. Macura and I was very impressed by his web site. Well yesterday 12.01.04 I met with Tina the PA of Dr. Macura's office I was very impressed with their clinic. I have decided that Dr. Macura will be the surgeon of my choice. The staff at the office was very kind. Tina explained the whole procedure to me (the pro's and con's) and I felt at ease. I was also assigned a personal assistant Jodi. Though I haven't had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Macura I am still very pleased with his staff

Dr. Macura and his partner Dr. Lazzaro were wonderful!! The entire staff at the Brooklyn Bariatric Center at Maimonides Medical Center was great. They are patient and will answer any questions you have or get back to you with answers. I highly recommend them to anyone in (or near) Brooklyn that is considering this surgery.

I had read other's opinions about him so I was preparing for this non-emotional, detached guy, but I did not find that at all. I found him to be friendly, extremely knowledgable, patient. At one point when I got upset he put his hand on my shoulder and reassured me that everything would be alright! What a guy!!
The office staff was awesome, they handled everything from beginning to end. I also had some clotting issues during pregnancy and they were very thorough in making sure there were no problems after surgery.
Aftercare is very important, I had to see him one week post op, then a month and continuously for the first year then I am not sure. His office runs support groups which are extremely helpful. I attended them pre-op and all people raved about him.
He was clear about the risks of surgery, and answered all the questions about the risks I had learned about that he didn't mention.
I would say that he and his partner are an excellent team. They both have great surgical competence and bedside manner but I would take surgical competence over bedside manner anyday!!

Dr. Macura and Dr. Lazzaro are wonderful surgeons! I would reccomend them to anyone! They were concerned about me. They took time to listen to me everytime I met with them. The office staff is TOP NOTCH! Gertrude the office manager is soo wonderful, and so knowledgeable about surgery and procedures. She is also caring and and all around wonderful person. I had insurance problems. Gertrude and Anna helped me with all the paperwork that needed to be submitted, even articles from the internet! I am so happy I selected this doctor and his staff.....THE BEST! Aftercare and support meetings are important. I can also call anytime I have a question. Drs. Macura and Lazzaro's surgical competence was Fantastic. They explained my surgery in terms that were understandable and specific. Bedside manner was good....however quick visits. But they always answered my questions. I had a wonderful experience with these doctors and their office. I had no complications either!

When I met the Doctor he seemed very professional. Though it was fast just a little bit about the operation and possible complications, I knew he was not rushing me out but just trying to reach other people he had to see. That has been the first time I have actually met with him so far. The staff have been great in helping me with everything I need to take care of. I had Jodi as my personal assistant, she has been wonderful the whole time I have needed help she's always been able to get back to me with what I needed. I would have liked to have a little more time to talk to the Doctor but I was feeling that he needed to see others so I didn't want to take up his time. I can say to people that are going to see him not to take it personal if he seems like he's rushing threw anything, he's not. He is willing to answer any questions you might have. The Doctor did go over aftercare, and explain it all to me. I also looked into it all before I went to see him so I would have the necessary information on all of the operation and what to expect. They do have a structured aftercare program listed on their home web site. I was told the risks of surgery by the Doctor and then again by the assistants when I went for my pre op testing. I would rate him 100%. I am happy with everything they have done so far and would tell everyone about him if they are looking into it, to give him a shot. I personally think that Surgical competence is very important but so is bedside manner. To me, both is important.
