My first impression was that this surgeon was very secure in his ability and made me feel confident of his skills. My experiences with the doctor and his staff has been very positive. I was made to feel important and my questions were never treated as silly or trivial. I was very impressed with the amount of time he spent checking on me at the hospital and with the staff that I came in contact with during the hospital stay at Northside - Cherokee in Canton, GA.

I have not met Dr. Champion. His number
is unlisted. I would like some info on
his track record. I understand that he
uses laser. I need feedback so I can
make a decision.

I have talked with Dr. Engler. Also would
like his track record, and would like to
hear from some of his patients.

I am 64. Do many people of this age have
this type of surgery?

My family is really uptight about the
surgery, so I need something that will
change their negative feelings. Their
opinion is that there is too much risk
involved.

Help.

Dr. Champion is very professional. Not a warm fuzzy Dr. But very knowledgable and gives you all the imformation you need to make your decision. My opinion has not changed.I have had some problems with his office staff , but he is aware of these problems and is working on getting them solved. It is very hard to get through to his office. The phone can be busy for hours. Dr. Champion's after care is based on each patient. Dr. Champion or his partner always attend the support group meetings.(Dr. Rock his partner is a little more social then Dr. Champion, but both are great!!! )They do not have a very structured aftercare program. All risk are explained in full and you have all the time you need to ask questions. He doesn't rush you...but take your list so you don't forget anything. I would rate Dr. Champion as excellent! I would rather know that the person doing my surgery was very competant, than to have a surgon that sits by your bedside and holds your hand. When you are feeling bad you need a good Dr,. Your friend and family can hold your hand,,but they cannot take care of you medically.

My first impression of Dr. Champion was that he was a quiet, relaxed, caring and compassionate individual. Now I can add that I have found him to be straight-forward, honest, and an excellent, exacting surgeon. The pros and cons of differing weight-loss surgery options were thoroughly explained, as well as the statistical percentages of success and the various surgical risk factors. He has the skill to immediately put you at ease, provide you with thorough and easily understandable information and (perhaps, as importantly, from an emotional and psychological perspective), you leave his office knowing that you have spoken with a physician who finally, REALLY understands. As an RN, I did a great deal of research before selecting a surgeon. Dr. Champion's credentials and experience in this area are superlative; I could not have settled for less. Staff in the hospital spoke of him with great admiration and respect and referred often to the fact that he was a "perfectionist" and "demands the very best for his patients". Post-op, he has always been available and immediately responsive to questions. His patients invariably use the words "love" and "respect" when talking about him. He and his wonderful staff take a deeply personal interest in their patients and it shows in every phone call and every visit. There is a strong emphasis on after-care. Each patient is required to sign a post-op contract which outlines patient responsibilities to adhere to the dietary and exercise regimens and attend support group meetings. Again, as an RN, my personal feeling is that surgical competence is paramount to everything. However, in the case of this fine physician, the patient receives the whole package. It would be impossible for me to assign a numerical rating...it's simply off the scale!

I met Dr. Champion for the first time monday August 28th 2000. Although I had researched him and the surgery in detail, he took time to go over every thing. He is very professional and knowledgable. He answered all questions I asked. He stated he would get my insurance letter out he next day.On a scale of 1-10 I rate him an 11.Although the staff was short that day, Susan was very impressive. Her patience and caring attitude was very noticeable. The only down side was I got lost going to the office. This was my fault.

He took time to tell me about the history, answered all my questions before I asked. Made sure that I was kept aware of what was going to happened. Since I traveled out of state, I had my tests the day before surgeryj. His office staff were friendly and efficient. There wasn't anything that I disliked about him. He was a nice thoughful person. Since manny people from out of state go to him, he sends all the paperwork to the patient so that they can take it to their doctor. I left the hospital, 8-17th 00. I am to call him Tueday 1 week from my surgery. I rate him a 10! His bedside manner and his surgical competence were both great

I will meet Dr.Champion for the first time the day before my surgery. His office staff members, even though overwhelmed with all the work, are always friendly and helpful.
