I haven't met Dr Champion yet. I have heard only good things about him and his work. I first went to Dr Carl Boyd, and found out after they (his insurance clerk) kept putting me off, that he is no longer able to do this kind of surgery. Boy am I glad I found out before he did mine. I am so excited I can't hardly stand it. My date is sept.1,2000

I had my initial consultation with Dr. Champion in Marietta, GA. He was very down-to-earth, well mannered and easy to talk with. Dr. Champion did a very good job of explaining the 2 major WL surgeries that he performs. His office staff was very cordial and friendly. They had just relocated into a new building in Marietta, so they were still unpacking and setting up the office...yet everything seemed to run very smoothly. I was in and out in no time. I took my family with me (my husband and 2 daughters) and all of us went into the exam room where we met Dr. Champion and asked him questions. My husband was very impressed with the doctor's experience...Dr. Champion has performed more than 300 weight-loss surgeries on patients from all over the United States. Dr Champion has a website (www.drchampion.com) and a monthly online chat for his patients as well as an email list. I found all of these to be very helpful in answering my questions concerning pre-op and post-op. My letter of request has been sent to my insurance company for approval. If I am approved, I will have the Lap RNY procedure.

MET WITH DR. CHAMPION. VERY INFORMATIVE AND TALKED WITH ME IN LENGTH ABOUT THE SURGERY.
SEEMS TO KNOW LOTS ABOUT GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY AND HAD DONE LOTS OF THEM. HAVEN'T DECIDED YET ABOUT MD (SINCE I AM GOING TO BE A SELF PAY), BUT HE SEEMS TO BE THE ONE I WOULD CHOOSE.

I have not met him yet, I will not meet him until the day of my surgery. From all that I have heard he is a wonderful surgeon. His office staff seems to be very overwhelmed with all the work. I have been waiting now 2 weeks to get a surgery date. Dr. Champion has support group meetings and an email group. I have not been able to attend a meeting, but the email group has been very helpful.

Well my date is the June 30th and I am excited. I had a big problem with paying money upfront to have this done. It's not that I could not afford it, I pay good money for my insurance and I feel it should cover all my exspencies for the surgery. I guess I am a penny pincher, but I don;t like paying anything for something I should get provided for me buy my insurance carrier. Enough about that. I am very excited as well as my familly. Can't wait for the new me to be discovered.

I am 5 weeks post-op and feel great. I have lost 65 pounds and can eat just about anything. Hamburgermeat is a no-no, but that is about it. Dr. Champion and team are the best. I hope everyone can have a doctor like him.

i researched the roux-en-y procedure carefully.i am a nurse and was very anxious about having surgery at my weight and being put under anesthesia.i was afraid i would not wake up and have terrible complications if i did.i was very lucky to find dr champion, and was so glad that he is in my state.i really wanted to have my surgery laproscopically.i knew this would be easier for healing.when i first visited dr c, i had 2 pages, front and back,of questions.i had written down every single thing i could think of to ask.he took a lot of time to explain my surgery and answered every question that i had.he seemed quite intelligent and i felt that he cared about his patients.i left his office knowing that he would help me and had every confidence in him as a surgeon.my impression of him has not changed at all.he and his staff have always been friendly and helpful when i've called. any patient would be lucky to have dr c to perform their surgery.i would recommend him to anyone.i thank God he uses his skills to help people like me.

I have found Dr. Champion to be sincerely concerned about the welfare of his patients. I have only met him once. I will go August 3rd for Pre-op. His office staff is....well....they have 2 offices and I think it could be more organized. As far as I understand, he gives specific foods which we are to adhere to, to keep from being nauseated. They have a wonderful support in Atlanta, but I live in Alabama, and will be unable to attend. He did address the risks of surgery. I rate him a 10. I can live with a ____, but I want someone who knows what they are cutting out of me, tying up and re-routing! I think he has both, good bedside manners and is a great surgeon. I am in his chatroom, and of course, it is monitored, so I don't suppose any negative remarks would be posted. I've read some semi-negative things, but nothing serious.
