The most wonderful Dr. in the world! He is highly intelligent and a warm human being. He is thorough and professional. He holds nothing back and genuinly cares about his patients. He is my Angel....

I'm now 2 months post op and for anyone who is having surgery by Dr. Patti, you have made the best decision in the world. He is truly the most caring doctor I've known. His patients are very important to him and the follow up is just as important. I got an ulcer post op (which can be common) and he followed me very closely. He called me, and he kept up on my progress. When it started getting worse, he put me in the hospital and came in on his days off to check in on me. He didn't rush, he sat there and talked for awhile to make sure that everything was being done for me that needed to be. I spoke with a few of the nurses at UCSF and it was unaninmous that he is a very good doctor and is very nice to the staff. Anyway, I just can't say enough good things about him. He's the best

I had the pleasure of metting Dr.Patti and his staff 7/30/02.
I had read on other peoples profiles that Dr.Patti tends to keep his patients waiting.I waited about 30 min which I did'nt feel was unreasonable.I found him to be a very plesant man, very knowledgeable and caring. He did'nt seem rushed and answered all of my questions. He stressed that this surgery is a tool, not a quick fix.He was very clear regarding after care and follow up schedules.
He also told me that because I live so far away (about 400 miles)I might stay in the hospital an extra day, depending how I'm doing.
Overall,I thought that Dr.Patti is a very capable surgeon and a caring man.

I had a great first impression! Our meeting 5/7/02 confirmed the feeling I got from other patients when describing him.

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY SURGEON, I HAVNT HAD THE SURGERY YET BUT IT WILL BE ON 9-4-02, WHEN I MET WITH HIM HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL. I REALLY LIKED HIM AND WOULD RECCOMEND HIM TO ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS OPERATION. HIS OFFICE WAS AS GOOD AS JUST ABOUT ANY DR'S OFFICE IS, HE IS A STICKLER FOR THE WEIGHT LOSS OF 10% BUT I HAD GAINED A LITTLE AFTER I HAD ALREADY LOST OVER THE 10%. HE WASNT RUDE ABOUT IT AT ALL, BUT DID TELL ME IF I GAINED 1 POUND THEY WOULDNT DO THE SURGERY. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT I AM DETERMINED TO NOT GAIN BUT LOSE A LITTLE MORE! I WAS GIVEN A PAMPLET WITH INFORMATION ON AFTERCARE, AND THAT IS THE ONLY THING I FELT WAS LACKING, I THOUGHT THERE SHOULD BE A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION FOR ME THAT JUST A TWO PAGE LETTER. I WILL ASK FOR MORE AFTER CARE INFORMATION, BEFORE LEAVING THE HOSPITAL. SO FAR I WOULD RATE DR. PATTI A 10! WHEN I LEFT HIS OFFICE I SAW A POST OP PATIENT COME IN AND GIVE HIM A HUG AND THANK HIM FOR HIS WONDERFUL WORK, THAT IMPRESSED ME A LOT, HE GREETED THE HUG AND HUGGED BACK, HE IS A MAN WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS.

Dr. Patti was very late for my appointment, but appologized, he had a few cancer patients ahead of me. I also had read on this website that he was usually late, so I wasn't surprised. The meeting was brief, was hoping for a little more information, but maybe I'll get it later. Dr. Patti is a very good surgeon, my incisions are the smallest I have seen on anyone (that has shown me anyway) I do feel that aftercare is very much lacking. Luckily a friend had her surgery 2 days before me at UCDavis and she was given a complete handbook. I was given 3 sheet of paper that was very vague. But with a little help from your friends, everything turns out for the best. I had an appointment with Dr. Patti 3 weeks post op. I have another to see him again, but it has been rescheduled now twice, so hopefully 3rd time is a charm! He is a very compitent surgeon and I trust him totally, and would recomend him highly. But do your homework on the aftercare.

I just recieved a letter from hill physicians approving Dr. Ostroff & Patti for surgury. I now have to make an appointment with him.
I Saw a Dr. Jossart for consultation and he said Patti did not do duental/ds surgury.
So I guess I'll find out whats going to happen after talking to Ostroff.

04/02/02- I met with Dr. Ostroff and found him to be rude and demeaning. He acted as if I was a lower form of life and would not listen with an open mind to my questions. He showed no concern at all to any option available and would not give a referal for another doctor for the DS procedure (which he will not do ). I wish i could say something positive about him but his visit with me was not pleasant. This was my basic impression of him..

Dr. Patti seemed well informed and made me feel like he knew what he is doing. I felt he was a little nicer than people have stated, I think it may depend on the mood you catch him in. For me he was very pleasant. My surgery is scheduled for April 10th. Kind of far from now oh well.

I haven't met my surgeon yet but I know that I will be dealing with Pacific Bariatric in San Diego California thier web site is http://pbsmg.com/ they have a cool web site and history on all of their surgeons. Quite frankly anyone of them would be fine with me. I met Dr. Tanaka he seems like he really cares he also seems like he won't take no bull. He wants you to follow the progam.

7-15-01 My insurance company has now decided that I can not go down south to get my surgery they think it is to far for me to go. I had many problems trying to find someone local that would do the surgery with my insurance. Because of this they found someone for me. His name is Dr. Patti and he works out of UCSF. I have not met him yet but I have a consult Sept. 11th. One thing I do not like about this process is that I am required to loose 10% of my body weight before they will even concider me for surgery. Also I will not meet with my surgeon I will meet with another doctor (Dr. James Ostroff) for my consultation. He will then decide if I need the surgery and then will refer me to Dr. Patti. I was told by Dr. Patti's office that the 10% weight loss was not required by them but by the Doctor who does the consult. Dr. Patti's office staff is very nice and professional I feel comfortable with them. On the other hand Dr. Ostroffs office is very busy answering questions is not a priorty for them and most of the time you get thier answering service because the office is to busy to answer the phone.

Met with Dr. Patti and had the surgery. Dr. Patti did a great job I have had no complications. He is a get down to bussiness kind of person the only thing that I did not like with my experience with him is that he was not available to speak to me on the weekend I got home from the hospital. I was discharged with liquid lor tab and I am allergic to it I needed another medication and that issue was not addressed I had to go the whole weekend with no pain medication. He has a support group that meets once a month and I was urged to go. He also has scheduled check ups for the following year post op.
