Marco Patti Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr Patti is a great DR I havent had any problems with him. His staff is very bad about returning phone call just to warn you.I had my surgey at ucsf and the staff was great but honestly I dont think the emphazied aftercare when they released me from the hospital as much as they should have. Luckly I did alot of reasearch on my own before the surgery I still have alot of unaswered questions. You need to watch yourself closely after. I feel Dr Patti is a good Dr but for the most part the staff was great but there was a few that needed some work on there bedside manner and being more informative for the aftercare as far as medacation and so on. I have a reaction to one of the medication that they have given me so you need to be aware of that.

I met with Dr. James Ostroff at UCSF on 3/29/01.
His office was staff were great. I love Karen B.
I felt proud of my choice and was pleased to find
that everyone in the office were supportive.
I was referred to Dr. Marco Patti for the surgery
and I see him on 5/1/01. I hope he is just as nice.

I met Dr. Patti today. He is great. He is most defintely knowledgable and focused on success. He made it clear that my success was up to me. My impression remianed the same about him. He was very approachable and offered a smile more than once, that made me feel good. He talked about the risks and commeneded me on my significant weight loss and knowledge of the surgery. He empasized the importance of aftercare amd the fact that his office would be following my progress. I was happy about that too. He also said he could not do the surgery LAP because of scar tissue I have. He was clear that he expects my continued motivation. I would recommend others to him and suggest that they come prepared with all the infor he requires. (cardiology report, psych. evaluation, ultra sound of gall bladder, and letter from Dr. Ostroff's office)

Dr. Patti is wonderful. He is an excellent surgeon. I am very happy to have selected him. I felt 100% confident in his knowledge and skills. I loved the way he came by after the surgery and informed me of the procedure. My scar is not nearly as horrible as I thought it would be and I have been told that this is because of the skills of Dr. Patti. He has saved my life and gave me a chance for a new life.

Dr. Patti was marvelous! He really took lots of time to answer questions and has a wonderful sense of humor.
My impression has not changed.
Very friendly and encouraging.
The only problem was the 5 1/2 hour drive to his office!
He really stresses calories and exercise.
Yes. There is a support group that meets at UCSF.
Talked very openly about the risks.
Wonderful!
Both were excellent. The hospital, however, was very understaffed. It took a long time to get a response to the call button.

I met with Dr.Patti on 1/30/01. I had had to jump thru all the hoops before I could get referred to him. They require 10% weight loss, psychriatric evalualtion and for me cardiologist clearance. I found Dr. Patti to be kind. He didn't go into a lot of detail about the surgery, he asked me what I already knew about it. My answers must have satisfied him, though he did give me the warnings of complications and that the surgery is not magic, I have to change my eating habits. I left his office with a surgery date, it all went pretty fast.

I have an appointment with Dr. Pattie on Dec.14th. I liked his office staff and especially Leslie. She has been so helpful. I will update after I see him. I had my appointment and my appointment was at 10:45 and I sat in a room for over two hours. I know he was having problems with a post op patient that day and was distracted. I am researching the post op wound and surgery complications. I have been hearing a few things and want to know how others have done post op. Dr. Patti was kind of cold. I had heard he was much warmer and I was surprized by this.

Dr. Patti was having a bad day when I saw him for my consultation. He had just seen a woman who was mad at him because she couldn't eat the way she used to. How dumb...now isn't that the whole point of this surgery? Anyway, after I proved to him that I had, in fact, lost the weight I needed
to lose, in order to see him, he basically just asked me when I wanted to have the surgery. I said, "As soon as possible". I never got to ask any of the questions I had and most of the time I spent with him was trying to convince him that I lost the 40 lbs. I've heard that he has a great bedside
manner, which I guess I'll find out after I have the surgery. I've also heard that he is
a terrific surgeon.
I felt like he was impatient with me and
like I'd just better take the date and
ask questions later. I had a 11:45
appointment and I saw him at 2:00, due to a
delay in the office receiving some paperwork.
I was disappointed in that I didn't walk out
of the office feeling any more informed than
when I walked in three hours earlier...but I did walk out with a surgery date and that was
really the most important thing to me.
I wish I had seen him on a more normal day for him. I will learn alot on my pre-op day, Dec. 19th.
