Dr. Ronald Spier is a very great surgeon. He cares about all of his patients and does a follow-up study on each patient for 4 years. His staff is also wonderful. I would recommend him highly to any person contemplating this surgery. He explained all aspects of the surgery and also told me about the risks. I was determined to have the surgery because I was afraid the consequences would be greater if I didn't. This doctor saved my life. At first he seemed a little gruff, I quickly learned that was only concern for us as human beings.

This is my own personal, wonderful experience. My first impression of Dr. Spier was wonderful. He was everything I could have hoped for. He's plain spoken and doesn't beat around the bush. Some people may not like that type of personality but I do. My impression has not changed over time except that my confidence and trust in him continues to grow. I'm post-op now and he took very good care of me. I've not had any problems so far and am very thankful for no vomiting! His office staff is very friendly and helpful. His aftercare program is very good. He follows your progress for 4 years and he and his staff encourage you to call with any and all questions no matter how small. They have a support group meeting every month that he and his nurse Robyn attend. They also have a website with a message board. I was very informed about risks before my surgery. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, I give Dr. Spier a 10 for both surgical competence and bedside manner. I'm thankful to have found him.

i found him very nice . he had a good sence of humor.my surg. was april 28,2003. he has been a wonderful dr. i love the staff, they don't look at you as fat, more as a skinny person in disguise.he is very big on aftercare, and on the support groups.he adressed the risks, wich made me feel more comfortable about the surg. my only real problem so far was that i had some bleeding around my insuision. dr. said i sometimes happens not to worry. but i did anyway.but all in all igive him and his staff a 10.

I work in a hospital in Columbus,Oh. Dr. Spier's name was given to me by a nurse that I work with. I called and set up my consultion visit with him, met him about six weeks later(the earliest appt. I could get). I had already researched the surgery and had my questions ready when I went in. Dr. Spier was very informative and answered all my questions. Then all the paper work was filled out and sent to the insurance company, it took about two months to hear back from them. My surgery was set for the Tuesday before Thanksgiving 2002.
His office staff have always been very helpful to me. I am still following up with him.

Dr. Speir has a great personality, makes a lot of jokes but is quiet serious also. The Community Hospital in Springfield nurses this he's great, I had called and asked if they were to have surgery who would you have do it? Dr. Speir was the asked, no question. Office staff, have been very helpful and seem to know there job. A four year time frame is what I am looking at for after care. We discused risks of surgery and afteer surgery. I would rate him a 10.

dr.spiers is awsome .very direct and to the point but also very caring.his staff is wonderful all are kind and courtious.dr.spiers is a very busy man but yet he makes time for all of his people.he firmly believes in after care,i missed my six month app. and his office called several times to get me back in.the funny thing is there is no charge for these after care visits he just wants to know how his patients are doing.i personaly do not have one bad thing to say about him or his staff and furthermore would refer any one wanting this operation to see dr.spiers.

Dr. Spier is a Great surgeon. He's very frank about what is expected of you before & after your surgery, but he is a very caring person. He has a dry sense of humor, but it is so nice to have a Dr. with a sense of humor. He asks you to make a 4 year commitment to follow-up care, he is always willing to answer your questions whether it's in his office, at support group meetings, in the hospital, etc. I would (and have) recommend Dr. Spier to anyone wishing this surgery. Sorry, but I don't have negative comments, I think he is a genuinly caring and competent surgeon.
