My First Impression with Dr. cobean was kinda weird! I was nervous and nothing he said processed in my head because i was so scared. But with time i got to meet him again and again and he made me feel more comfy,The staff is incredible! as many questions i have asked Thinking some of the questions was kinda annoying they still answerd all with out hestiation,There awesome!!I liked everything about him! A week after my surgery he himself or his staff called me everyday to see how i was doing! I thought that was wonderful,He showed in a gastric bypass class the pros and cons of surgery but I was ready! I Love Dr. Cobean and his Staff! they are wonderful each and everyone!! They take real good care of you! there quick about getting right back to you!
Maine medical was and is a wonderful hospital to have surgery in! The staff is wonderful! They all made me feel great and any questions i had they answered! What a wonderful team! Thank you Dr. Cobean and your staff! for taking such a wonderful job taking care of me and reassuring me that everything was ok!

Dr. Cobean is a very straight forward doctor. He doesn't sugar coat things and is very honest yet compassionate. I find him attentive and caring. I feel lucky to have Dr. Cobean for a surgeon. The staff at the Bariatric Center are sensitive and honest. They explain that at times it seems like they are treating us like children but ofter times that is the way to get you through the process and to the place you want to be!! One other benefit is the "complete team approach"!! He relies on the whole team (physician, dietician, and social worker) to determine readiness for surgery and help with after care. I am very satisfied with Dr. Cobean and his team.

I actually have a female surgeon within Dr.Coybean's office, she was absolutely amazing, she was honest and up front about what the surgery would be like, and what the risks would be, she told me that this surgery would address my acid reflux and IBS that I've had like forever. She stressed what would be needed to succed, and I felt that she was very capable, and truly care about the overall experience for me.

Dr. Cobean was very professional but with a sense of humor i think that is very important atleast for me. My impression has not changed i am 5 months out and truely feel he was the best choice i ever made.
His staff is wonderful and compassionate i was never critcized or asked why are you this way. they are all supporive of you the whole team and want to see you succeed that is very important for them to believe in you.
He is dedicated to helping us and is very humble about the amazing things he does to help people like me. I remember saying once thank you for saving me and the response was i gave you the tool you saved yourself.
The entire team as well as Dr. Cobean express the importance of aftercare and have a great program for people who want to participate the support groups are so helpful for me and i am glad that after the surgery we are not on our own. Dr. Coean was very upfront about the risks and in fact in several meeting retold them to me to make sure i understood. He was very honest and anwsered anyquestion i had.
I would rate him A++++++++++++++++++++++++ I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are both important and he has both he came in several times to check on me in the hospital before i went home as well did his nurse. I felt very well taken care of and would reccomend him to anyone who asked me who they should look at for this surgery.

Finally some answers!!! Today we got a phone call from my PCP (Dr. Breault I LOVE YA!!!) I was upset over the lack of communication between us and the bariatric office, and it took her calling them to find out why they had been so unresponsive. We made first contact back in Jan. '04, and were supposed to be mailed information from the surgeons office, but received nothing. We called them many times and only got the run around.
Turns out they have a problem with people calling and trying to get further ahead on the waiting list by lying to them about not receiving the information...not our case and certainly nothing I would even dream of doing....but obviously others don't live by the same ethics that I do...sigh...but now I understand what the problem was.
Long story short I have been on the waiting list for 6 mons. now and only have 6 more months to go before I get an appointment letter in the mail and get to attend the seminar and have my private session with Dr. Cobean! I can't wait!!!
I'm excited!!! What's six months when it's the rest of my life that I have to look forward to in the end. I'm patient. I'm just so glad to know that I'm actually on the waiting list and this is going to happen!
Praise the Goddess and God!!! *tear*
