Dr. Cobean and his staff have been a joy to deal with. They are very open and honest and are there to encourage you every step of the way. They work with you before during and after the surgery and truly care about your health and recovery. I would recommend him to anyone and have complete trust in his abilities as a surgeon.

At my first appointment with Dr. Cobean, I knew I'd made the right choice for a surgeon. I liked his "nuts-and-bolts" manner and his sense of humor. From the beginning, Dr. Cobean has clearly outlined the risks of gastric bypass surgery, complete with written information, pictures, and verbal review. I think if a patient is looking for a "hand-holding" kind of supportive surgeon, Roy Cobean may not be their guy. I found him to be candid and caring, truly respectful of his patients, and that is most important to me.

Aftercare is stressed from the beginning as the key to successful lifetime outcome. Patients have regular appointments with the surgeon for follow-up and there is also currently a monthly support group.

The Bariatric Center staff and the surgery office staff are all capable professionals who are unfailingly helpful and pleasant to deal with.

My first impression of Dr Cobean was that he is very down to earth. My visit with him was only 20 minutes long, but in that time he made me feel very comfortable. The receptionist Diane is a sweetheart, she was very polite and helpful. If I had anything negative to say about my first visit to the office it would have been the long wait once I got into the consult room. I had to wait almost an hour before the Dr came in to talk to me, but I understand how busy he is. We didn't really talk much about what to do after the surgery, I have been researching this surgery for over a year now and I pretty much know all there is to know about what to do after surgery and further down the road. Dr Cobean explained the risk of this surgery very well and I felt confident that if anything does go wrong he will do everything he can to fix the problem(s). I feel that I am in very good hands with Dr Cobean and his associates. I know I am going to be nervous along the way, but I also know that Dr Cobean and his team will be there to reassure me.

Dr. Cobean was vary informative and caring. The staff was great. Barbara was always there if I had questions or concerns. This office and everyone working in it is there for you. If you are not the right canidate or I you are not commited they will know and they will not operate until you are. They take you through this step by step.

I had my first visit with Dr. Cobean on 7/24 and it went very well! I really liked him right from the start. He answered all of my question, cracking jokes the whole time. He made me feel totally at ease! The whole staff is great. I also met with the nutritionist - Barbara, and had a psych eval with Laura Olken. Each of them was very professional, and very friendly. I now have to have another consult with Dr. Cobean, which is scheduled for 9/11, and then they will give me a surgery date!

Dr. Cobean is very capable. He has long fingers and nice hands.

His staff is very good, although not as reachable as one would like. (Mons and Tues only)

He has a laid back attitude and is confident of his ability.

I haven't posted anything about Dr. Cobean because I haven't met with him yet. I was told I probably won't get in until December. I feel pretty secure about him because my regular doctor told me he would only give me a referral to him. I will write more as soon as I know more. I would like to hear from others about Dr. Cobean and what kind of surgery they had and how it went.
10/03/01 finally had my first appointment with Dr. Cobean. He is a very understanding man. He really seemed to care about how I feel and that he wants what is best for me. His office staff is wonderful. Equally caring. Betty is a big help. I am waiting for my date for my 2nd visit and I hope it is soon.

11/28/01- Had my 2nd appointment. I found out that I was accepted and my surgery date is March 4th. Dr. Cobean is a wonderful, caring man. He seems very sincere about helping me out. The rest of his team is wonderful also.

3/19/02 - Had my surgery on March 4th and all is well. Dr. Cobean made me feel as if I shouldn't have a care in the world about the surgery and I didn't. He was wonderful.

First class. He heads a Bariatric clinic that treats the whole person with dignity and respect. It takes approx. a year to go through the program from the first support group meeting to surgery. It seems like a long time but this gives you time to get to know the staff and for them to get to know you. The prioroty for this program is long term success. They have a lifetime program for follow up.

They explain all the risks and also give a complete rundown on their success / failure record.
The only way to rate this man is to say I can think of no other surgeon I would rather have work on me.
Both great.

My first impression was a good one. Dr. Cobean is a very nice man and gets right to the point. He lays everything right on the table and holds nothing back. The staff there are so great and understanding. They have made sure everything is going smoothly and that all my questions are answered. I definately feel good about Dr. Cobean and the office staff and am so much looking forward to my surgery.

Surgery is all over and of course everything is going fine. The Bypass surgery went great and was everything Dr. Cobean said it would be. I had a few setbacks with another problem I had but Thanks to Dr. Cobean Im on my way to a good recovery. Dr. Cobean even had another patient come and talk with me and give me a little pep talk. THANKYOU VERY MUCH TO DR. COBEAN AND HIS WONDERFUL STAFF!!

I thought Dr. Cobean was awesome. He seems to truly care about the patient. He even asked me to check in on another patient while I was in the hospital who had the same procedure and try to cheer her up as she was worried about all she was experiencing with pain etc.
Dr. Cobean was upfront about everything pre-op. I knew what to expect when going into this surgery.

I think he's wonderful, competent and has a great bedside manner. I would recommend him to anyone. I haven't had a negative experience with him yet.
