Oct. 18, 2006 Met with Dr. Tersigni today for the first time. He was VERY informative and answered all my questions and fears, his staff was the same way. The dr and his staff really put alot of emphasize on the before and aftercare that I would be receive. He does have a very good aftercare for you and he addressed the risks of the surgery quite well, took my fear away and was not in a hurry whatso ever, explained everything to me just as his staff had just finished doing and asked me if I had any questions. I was impressed with the Dr. and his staff and now I am ready for my journey.

VERY, VERY thorough consult with Robin and with Dr. Tersigni. I was impressed with the overall cleanliness of their facility. rnWe decided bypass over the band. The band was a way to stop volume eating but didn't stop the junk food-style of eating. Robin had a band on hand that she let me feel, that was kind of cool. Then I met with Mindi about insurance. She was impressed that I had so much information about my insurance and seemed appreciative.

'I thought I would put a current review and say some things about his support staff

I found Doctor Tersigni to be a very caring and knowledgable doctor. His office staff are absolutely the top notch people. Robin, his office nurse, has also had bypass surgery and so knows what you, as a patient, are going through. Scott Lange, his physician's assistant, all I can say about Scott is WOW ... Scott you are so cool and so caring and a definite bonus to Dr. Tersigni and the Northwest Bariatric Clinic. I had no problem getting the surgery set up and approved through my health insurance. I attribute this to his knowledgeable office staff. I had complications during surgery, had to be in intensive care for 6 days, and a total of 14 days in the hospital. Through all of this Dr. Tersigni, Scott, and his associate Doctor Steven Giss, were the best people I feel I could have had on my team. He has quite an extensive follow-up program that includes periodic check-ups as well as a supply of things a bariatric patient needs IE vitamins and supplements. the risks of surgery were lined out to me in a way I could understand them and make a well informed decision whether to proceed or not, though in the health condition I was in, or lack thereof, left me little choice if I wanted to continue to live. I am extremely satisfied with my experience with Doctor Tersigni, and his entire office staff. I don't have anything negative to say about the man at all but I do have this to say to him .... Doctor Tersigni, YOU are THE MAN and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me back my life.

Very professional & gives you the feeling of real ability & experience. Every experience I had of Dr. Tersigni was that my first impression was right on. A really efficient & competent office staff. You can put your full confidence in Dr. Tersigni that he knows what he's doing & if you'll listen to him he'll bring you through the operation with a good outcome. The Dr. & his staff go to a lot of trouble to make certain you know exactly what you are to do post op. On more than once the risks were discussed with me to make sure I fully understood. Iwould rate Dr. Tersigni a 10. His surgical competence is his long suit but his bedside manner is certainly a comfort to his patients. My one complaint was that in my exam at 1 week by an assistant was less than satisfactory in that a med was over looked & he seemed to not have any time to spend with me.

Dr. Tersigni is a great doctor. He answered all my questions. His office staff is the best. He has great surgical competence, but poor bedside manners. I haven't seen my doctor since my surgery. I either see his nurse or his PA. If you want the best doctor for this surgery. He is the one to do it. He not only performs the surgery. He also teaches other doctors how to do this surgery.

Keep in mind that I had already been to two other surgeons prior to meeting Dr. Tersigni. Neither of the prior interviews left me with any confidence, but Dr. Tersigni walked into the exam room and dismissed those others with his next words, "Yes, you are a challenge, but I accept that challenge."

He seems a bit arrogant, but I would much rather have an arrogant and confident surgeon than one that is unsure of himself when he has me cut open on the operating table!

The Dr. recommended that I lose 50 lbs. prior to surgery, and that once I'd lost half that, to call and they would schedule the procedure. Well, after I'd lost 30 lbs. I called and it seemed like my surgery date came up screaming! My surgery was performed on May 10, 2005. I had my pre-surgical meeting with Robin, had all my pre-surgical tests, and next thing I know I'm waiting in the motel room the night before.

Dr. Tersigni warned me that, though it was planned as a laproscopic procedure, there was a chance they would have to open me up. Dr. Tersigni and his assistant Scott were 90% complete with the gastric bypass and removing my spleen when an artery was nicked, blood filled my abdominal cavity and they had to open me up. So, I have six incisions: five tiny ones and one that runs from just below the middle of my breasts to just above my belly button. The whole procedure took six hours.

When they woke me in recovery and told me that I had been opened up, I was a bit disappointed but happy to just have woken up! My hospital care was exemplary. I can't say enough about the staff at Bay Area Medical Center. Many of the RNs have had this procedure, so they know exactly what you need and what you are facing. The CNAs are wonderful!

It has been a little more than two months since my surgery and I would recommend Dr. Tersigni, his staff and the staff at BAMC to anyone seriously considering this surgery.
