Holy Cross Hospital (COE) Hospital
My negative comments would be that the air conditioning was not the best in my room, but the nurses found fans that helped tremendously. Also, my last night was staffed completely by "pulled" from other units who were incompetent, rude and not knowledgeable about Gastric surgery. We were warned about this ahead of time by Dr. Marema's group. Myself, I had no complaints because I was up and about and going home in the am, but my roomate and others on the floor felt they were poorly treated because of their size, nurses didn't know what they were doing and just generally, unattended.
A hospital is like a house...You can't make it a home without some substance with it.
The facilities at this hospital were wonderful. My problems came when I did not like the way a nurse was treating me. Then did I catch it for the next 48 hours. There is always one bad apple in a crowd. But there were others that joined the band wagon. ONLY because I asked to have another nurse.
Pay the extra money to have a private room if available. They finally moved me to a small room. But you need someone with you that first and second nite...I know I did. After that you are aware and can manage.
Lets just say go fully equipped! It was terribly hot in there, and no way to adjust the air control. You definitely need a fan! Cleanliness it wasn't! If it weren't for my husband, I would not of gotten fresh water let alone any water. Nurses did not frequently fill and change out your water. The nurses were not sympathetic nor friendly, except one, Abby. But Abby had the surgery done herself so she went thru what we did.
