Holy Cross Hospital (COE) Hospital

Holy Cross is one of the best!! As a nurse of 20+ years, I've seen my fill of other hospitals, and Holy Cross truely was superb!! They have a unit designed specially for bariatric patients so their staff is responsive to the needs of obese patients. The care was excellent and the nursing staff was extremely friendly. Kudos to the entire staff!!

This Hospital was so HORRIBLE, The 1st night not one nurse came by. I was sliding off the bed, and not one nurse came in. Also when the nurse came before the night, they (2) got me up to walk and I had gotten my period by the time walked 15 to 20 steps I was dripping heavy I was also extremly dizzy and ready to fall. What did they do told me to hold on to the wall while they went to get some cloth to clean the floor. I thought I was going to faint. they took their sweet time wiping the floor before they got me back in bed. They never washed me until the 3rd day that I was able to shower- remember I had my period. ( I live out of town and my family stayed with they girls)I have severe nassuas from the pain killer and kept asking them for some medications not one responce until I called the Doctors service (it was a weekend) and had them call for some meds. I was told by the doctor that meds were ordered on admitence because this is something usual with this procidure. This is a verry old hospital the air conding system is really BAD they would bring you fans, yes fans in the 21st century.
One the second night I was very lucky I had a caring nurse (wish I had her on the 1st night)The overall rating of this hospital was by far the worst.

I've never been in the Hospital before, so I have nothing to compare my stay to. However, the Hospital staff was courteous and very overworked.
Mad props to STELLA, a PCT, who was so caring and amazing - she made the whole Hospital experience very tolerable for me. Stella, you rock! The first 2 days in the Hospital I had male Nurses (can't remember their names due to the Morphine haze) but these male nurses were very wonderful as well. Props to the 3 of you!
I did have one issue while in the Hospital. Apparently, this Hospital does not keep Bariatric patients seperate from regular patients. After my first 2 days in the Hospital (was there for 6 days total as a result of the incident to follow) my original fellow RNY roommate (who was awesome - HI DEBRA!) got discharged and she was replaced later that evening with a 100 year old woman who just had a masectomy. OK so I don't mean to sound insensitive, but this woman needed more care than she could receive from these Nurses. The lady was so out of it, had no idea where she was or what was going on and wouldn't quit asking if the window was open (because my fan was blowing the privacy curtain between us.) She kept turning on the TV (all night, full volume) instead of hitting the call button and when no one responded to her "call" she would start to moan and groan. By 4 am (about 6 hours after my new roomie checked in) I had spiked a fever and had a monster headache. I was in tears. I had the hiccups from crying over the pain of my headache from granny's whining since she arrived. I had the hiccups for 7 hours straight. Finally, morning arrived, my mom came, and they switched my room. My new roomie was another older lady who had passed out and busted her head. She was much better. And very quiet and liked to sleep. My kind of lady.
Overall, the Hospital was wonderful. I know it isn't the staff's fault who gets assigned to what room, so the Hospital directors really need to take that into consideration.
I hope I never have to go to any Hospital again!

They could have had additional TV channels piped in, as the big 3 networks and a smattering of others grew real old real quick. While there were some staff that were distant and jost "going thru the motions" there were others that went out of their way to see that I was confortable. Because I experienced both ends of the spectrum, the rating was a "low good".

The hospital and everyone was great except that one night they had a temp nurse on duty and I needed to have my IV changed because it wasn't dripping and she would not do it and I couldn't pump the morphine because it would go straight into my veins without the IV and it burned. It took about five hours till the morning nurse came in and changed it and had to remove and put it in my other arm.
