I am 46 years old and one year and seven months post-op. I am 6'1 and weighed 450 pounds at my heaviest. Currently I am at 236 pounds. My goal weight is 180 pounds. I have 36 pounds to go to be at 200 pounds before plastic surgery. I will be having that done on 03/14/2014. I should lose approximately 10 pounds after surgery which will leave me with 10 pounds more to lose to reach my goal.
I had always been a big girl. By the time I was 14, I was 5'11 and 220 pounds, so I was never small or thin per say. I really don't want to be skinny. I just want to be healthy and fit. Then as the years passed, I met my husband and had three wonderful children (all boys). I continued to gain more weight and went through a spiral of diets to lose it...going down and then gaining more than I lost in the first place. This went on for many years. Until I hit rock bottom.
I was 44 years old with hypertension, severe sleep apnea, and pre-diabetic. I was at my highest of 450 pounds. I decided I was going to die if I didn't do something about my weight. I went to a seminar and did at least three months of research on what to do. With a lot of studying and comparing. I decided to do the Vertical Gastric Sleeve. It was the best decision I ever made in my entire life. I feel like I am 20 again! My energy has exploded and I can't stop moving! I was stationary for way to long. My life is beginning at the age of 46. I am very blessed and thankful for all I have received.
I will be creating a blog, to discuss my journey and to try and help anyone that needs it. I would love to scream to the world that there is life after being morbidly obese. I am the happiest I have been in over 25 years.
