I have "dumped" every time I've had juice, since surgery. Too much sugar, I guess. It's the only thing I've had a lot of problems with. Dumping is not fun.

I bought it at Great Canadian Superstore (Loblaws) for only $17 a case. Not sure if that was the regular price. It's also available at Walmart in smaller quantities.

In my humble opinion... if we could find the time BEFORE surgery (and remember how anxious we were??) then we sure the heck should be able to find the time to continue to go to the appointments.

Studies prove that good follow-up care results in better health and keeping the weight off. Why would we want to sacrifice that?

Furthermore, if we don't go to our follow-up appointments we minimize the integrity of the system would could in turn jeopardize the funding for the program. Why ruin it for future patients?

I have 5 pairs of (practically brand new) JEANS to give away to a new home. All I ask is that you hand them over to a fellow OHer after you're finished with them:

1) Light blue "Westbound II Essentials" 100% cotton. Size 24W. Capri style.

2) Dark blue "Venezia Jeans" 100% cotton. Size 22. Quite baggy... designed as a "full fit".

3) Traditional blue jean colour "Venezia Jean" Size 22 Average. 100% cotton - heavy weight.

4) Dark Grey "Suko Jeans" Size 20. 82% cotton, 16% Polyester, 2% Spandex. Real comfy! Fancy embroidery on back pockets, built-in wrinkles on upper thigh and behind knees. I hemmed these to accommodate my 5'4" frame. I think there's a belt that goes with them!

5) Dark-Medium Blue "Suko Jeans" Size 22. 82% cotton, 16% Polyester, 2% Spandex. Real comfy! Fancy embroidery on back pockets and rhinestones (!) on the front pockets, built-in wrinkles on upper thigh and behind knees. I hemmed these to accommodate my 5'4" frame. I think there's a belt that goes with them!

I regularly travel to Collingwood, Barrie, Alliston, Newmarket and all points in between. If you're interested in adopting these (for a short while, of course!) please PM me and we'll set-up a drop-off.

Prevacid is very confusing!

Each nurse I had at HRRH advised a different method of taking the Prevacid. The formula I was given in the hospital was a "Fast Tab" and it was chewable. For the most part, I was told to chew it - it was usually given to me with my breakfast.

When I went to the HRRH pharmacy to pick up my prescription of Prevacid Fast Tabs to take home, the pharmacist there told me I was to dissolve it in water and take it a half hour before breakfast.

I was able to toss it into the odd protein shake I was mixing, but I could still taste it.

No matter what method I tried, it made me gag.... gag so badly that I was dry heaving and it was very painful. Dr. Hagen told me to not bother taking the Prevacid at all.

Big sigh.

YES - I bought one at Walmart in Barrie the other day. Individually it cost $3.47.

Someone else on here said they were available at Shoppers Drug Mart but I wasn't able to find them at my local Shoppers.

Usually, all the milk from different farmers, different farms, different cows, different breeds... etc, all get thrown in the same vat - and we can't tell the difference.

In this case, because the farmer is ONLY using his cows and they're all Jerseys, seems there's a huge difference. I always knew the Jerseys produce high fat milk, but I didn't know it would be different in protein content.

Did I mention how good it tastes?

I absolutely LOVE milk and all dairy products!!

I was really disheartened to discover that I have become lactose intolerant after having my RnY 6 weeks ago. And... then I remembered reading about a (somewhat "local") farmer that has started his own milk producing plant right on his farm, using 100% of his own Jersey Cows' Milk.

From their website (http://www.millersdairy.com/index.html):

According to the American Jersey Cattle Association, reported by the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, milk from Jersey cattle offers the greatest nutritional value providing 15-20% more quality protein and 15-18% more calcium.

I contacted the farmer to ask him if he has the nutritional values for his milk and I told him I'd recently become lactose intolerant. He replied to me that he is in the process of having his milk analyzed for its nutritional value AND.... he told me that he gets an awful lot of feedback from consumers telling him that even though they're lactose intolerant with off-the-shelf-garden-variety milk products, they are able to tolerate and digest Jersey Milk without any problems.

Soooo... I tried.. and it's amazing! No problem whatsoever! I have tried the 2%, the 1% and the chocolate milk. Somehow I am able to tolerate Jersey Milk. Woot Woot.

Rumour has it that all of the fat and cream that is skimmed off is sold to Chapman's in Markdale and becomes a key ingredient in their delicious ice cream!

The milk is pasteurized and Vitamin D is added and bottled in glass bottles. There are no preservatives so the milk can only be purchased within a 50km distance from the farm (which is in Creemore). There is a $2 refundable deposit for each glass bottle and the milk per litre is no more expensive than the other stuff on the shelf.

YUP - he said I should NOT have a colonoscopy done by someone who is unfamiliar with this surgery. Having said that..... his reply was for ME - I was only 4 weeks post-surgery. When I need a repeat colonoscopy next year, I will ask him again.

Disclaimer: Just like the warning on the pill bottle.... this advice is intended for the patient for whom it was given.

Funny you should ask.... I had a colonoscopy scheduled 2 weeks BEFORE my RnY, then my RnY was moved up 3 weeks early. Needless to say, I cancelled the colonoscopy for the exact uncertain reasons you've mentioned. When I saw my surgeon for the one month checkup I asked him if I needed to be concerned about having a colonoscopy done by a surgeon who may not be familiar with the re-worked plumbing, he said "Oh ya". Luckily, I'm having the colonoscopy done by my bariatric surgeon (Hagen) in a couple of months.

Nothing to worry about Krista, with Dr. Hagen you're in good hands. My abdomen looks like a road map from previous surgeries and there's no problem. He was able to do a VBG --> RnY conversion on me laproscopically. It's been almost 5 weeks since my surgery and the lap incisions are barely noticeable!

If I were you, I'd double-triple-check that date.... It's my understanding they only do the Orientation once per month at HRRH. If there's 3 others going on the SEVENTH, maybe someone's transferred info improperly to you about the ELEVENTH (they sound the same!).
