Very personable. He seems to really understand and care about not only the physical issues but also the emotional implications of being obese. The office staff was patient and informative when dealing with all the questions I had.

My first impression of Dr.Gorospe was that he seemed very nice and knowledgeable of the surgery and very concerned with the success of each of his patients.I was very impressed to see that he attends the support group meetings and answers any and all questions that pre or post ops have.I really like him and he has a great sense of humor. I am glad that we in the tulsa area are so blessed to have a knowledgable surgeon such as him.
Well i am now post-op and am still pleased as before with my Dr. he had a great bedside manner and made sure that any questions that i had were answered when he came to check on me.

My first impression of Dr. Gorospe was that he is a very caring professional. After meeting with him, his office sent the letter of approval to my insurance and I was approved right away and I made my appointments with the other specialists. I guess what has impressed me further is the admiration the other specialists hold for Dr. Gorospe.

First appointment-December 2000. I was a little intimidated by the first appointment because Dr. Gorospe explains the surgery in a room with several patients sitting together. However, you do get a personal visit with him to discuss questions and your specific situation. I did not like this approach at first but after meeting him personally and at the support meetings, I think he does it that way to promote a "helping each other" environment. Also, he is a very busy surgeon so it probably saves him time, which helps us get scheduled for the surgery earlier.

Dr. Gorospe's staff is very helpful. They answered questions quickly and kept me informed immediately when my insurance contacted them.

I rate Dr. Gorospe as a very competent surgeon with a great support program for his pre-op and post-op patients. Some of his former patients hold a support meeting each month, which he always attends and answers questions. I feel comfortable going into surgery in February because of the success I have seen in his other patients.

Dr. Gorospe is a very caring and sensitive surgeon. Our first meeting with him was in a group setting. He explained the procedure by speaking and drawing pictures. Not only did he cover the RNY procedure completely, he also discussed many other types of procedures along with the pros and cons of each. Even though you may not like the idea of a group meeting at first, it is well worth it for several reasons: others will ask questions you have not even thought of yet, you meet others on the same journey (which you will possibly see in the waiting lounges of the other appointments and you'll have someone familiar to visit with), and it will help you realize you're not alone in seaking help. After the group meeting Dr. Gorospe meets with everyone individually to find out more about you and to answer any question you may have that you didn't ask in the group meeting. We later attended the monthly support group meeting and Dr. Gorospe was there also (so was his beautiful wife and office staff). We also attended the meeting on 1-8-01. The meeting went great. I was able to ask several questions and hear questions I hadn't thought of. I met several people who have had the surgery and was able to ask them a lot of questions. Dr Gorospe is loved by this group and he truly cares about his patients. He tries to attend every meeting possible. My impression of him was strongly reaffirmed after watching how the post-op members related to him. You could tell he was very close to all of them and knew their life activities like they were his personal friends. Most importantly, Dr. Gorospe is a very dedicated surgeon who truly appreciates the rewards of seeing his patients lives improve and having the opportunity to share in the happiness with each client.

Initial contact on Dec. 6, 2000. I was a little suprised that the first meeting was a group lecture. Then there was an individual meeting with the Doc. He seemed very informed and caring. He told me that getting my ins. approval would be difficult. We'll see just how difficult soon.

I thought he was very open honest and caring plus he has a great sense of humor.I've met with him three times and like him better each time. His office staff have been helpful and informative.Aftercare is a very important issue and is stressed highly.I was asked to attend group meetings before and after surgery and was given alot of printed information to read and had a meeting with a nurse to explain the hospital care, pain management, exercise, feeding, and what to expect during and after the procedure.Yes there is a great aftercare program. All the risks were covered as well as the benefits. So far I would give Dr.Gorospe an A and will let you know more after surgery.I think competence and bedside manner are important.
