He and his staff are very caring and supportive people. They encourage you to be active int the support program after your surgery which is very helpful in itself. If I had to repeat this procedure I would do it in a heartbeat.

After some initial research, I decided to eliminate all physicians who were not members of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons. Then I searched regionally. Dr. Gorospe is within 100 miles of my hometown; he is board-certified; medical professionals in my family told me he was a good surgeon. I also was impressed with the adjectives his patients used. I have found him to have a real interest in the surgery as one which helps patients. He does other types of surgery as well, and was doing this surgery before it became as well-known. I was also impressed that his office staff members had worked for him a long time. I also checked him out with the state medical association. I consider it a plus that he seems to be a very nice man. However, I am not looking for a friend; I am looking for the best qualified, most experienced and most competent person I can find in my area. He does not "sugarcoat" the surgery or its aftermath and the patient support/aftercare system he has put together is impressive.

I first met Dr.Gorospe on my December 6 appointment. I thought he was extremely considerate and informative about the surgery. I noticed how patient and attentive he was to all of us. Dr. Gorospe informed me of the series of tests I needed before the surgery. I am very happy with him. There hasn't been one minute I've doubted that I made the right decision in choosing him as my doctor. The staff in the office was wonderful (very patient) answering all of my questions. I also like the fact that Dr. Gorospe has an assistant (Michelle) available to me all of the time. She had the bypass surgery a few years ago. I am comfortable with the fact that when I have had questions she has been there.

This is my personal experience and it may not be the same for others.

I first met Dr.Gorospe during a pre-op information class he does with all his surgery patients. I thought he was extremely considerate and informative about the surgery. I noticed how patient and attentive he was to all of us.
Dr. Gorospe informed me of the series of tests I needed before the surgery and seemed to be very cautious, never risking my health in any way. I am very happy with him. There hasn't been one minute I've doubted that I made the right decision in choosing him as my doctor. I've worked on a surgical floor before and I've never seen a doctor who cared about his patients comfort like Dr. Gorospe.
The staff in the office was wonderful (very patient) answering all of my questions. The fact that doctor Gorospe has an assistant (Michelle) available to me all of the time. She had the bypass surgery a few years ago. That makes me feel more comfortable should questions arise that don't need a Doctor but someone who has been there. There are meetings every month to help pre-op and post-op patients learn from each other about diets and what they will go through.
The one thing I would tell someone who is about to the have this surgery is this:I'm sitting in a chair, I'm 10 days post-op, I'm comfortable. Thanks to Dr. Gorospe I'm on my way to a healthier life.
Frankly I think I got the best surgeon out there. He is a caring, capable, informative doctor that seems to care about how everyone of his patients feel.

Dr. Gorospe and his ENTIRE staff is INCREDIBLE. They are all very compassionate,
caring and truly want to see you be healthy. I have never had a problem with anyone in thier office and to be honest with you, Lisa,
has been the biggest help! I just met Michelle who is the Bariatric Specialist that helps Dr. Gorospe and she is absolutely fabulous as well. I have only heard wonderul things about Dr. Gorospe such as he has the best bedside manner and that he truly cares for you. The aftercare, again I have heard is remarkable and he actually has been known for crying when seeing patients reach thier goal or when losing weight! He believes in you and wants to see you succeed.
Dr. Gorospe addresses all the risks of surgery and requires you to go to group meetings before your surgery. He wants you to have ALL the information before making such a life altering decision and he is very frank and honest. He will allow you to make your own decision re: Open or Lap, but will
tell you up front that Open is better due to the ring that they put in - which causes longevity and enables you feel full quicker and longer. Dr. Gorospe's surgical competence has a reputation of "above the rest". He was the first in Oklahoma to perform laproscopic colonoscopy (I think that is the name :) ) and another procedure.
He is known for doing procedures that other surgeons are afraid to do and HE IS SUCCESSFUL at them! I feel highly confident about my surgeon and am not fearful at all with regards to him and what he will be doing to me that day! I believe I am in good hands with Dr. Gorospe and he will do everything in his power to make this a successful and good experience for you.

I HONESTLY can say - I have not heard ONE negative thing about this doctor and believe me I have searched as I wanted to be completely sure I had the "right person for the job!" :)

OMG! My first impression of Dr. Gorospe was, "You're kidding...He's here?" I first met Dr. G at a support group meeting and I could not believe that he took his personal time to come to the meeting...and then I found out that he attends ALL the meetings...EVERY MONTH! Well, I have to say that I loved him right away! He was informative and intelligent and just seemed so caring! He was like no other doctor I had ever met...He saw through this body and into my heart. HE HAD ME AT "HELLO!"

I really like Dr. Gorospe, especially when I went to the support meeting and he was there. He answered everyones questions and I just thought he was great.

I am very excited to tell you all that I feel I had a great first meeting with my surgeon to be . I could hardly sleep last night because for the first time in years I have hope that my obesity will be cured.
Dr. Gorespe was very informative about the surgery and possible side effects of the surgery. I was very grateful to Michelle, Dr. Gorespe's physican liason who spoke with us. Her story sounded just like mine so I cryed all the way through it. I can't hardly wait to have the surgery so I can get much more active with my life and have fun with my little girl and wonderful husband.
My insurance does not look like it is very promising but I will have my surgery one way or the other.

Dr Gorospe seems to very caring and open and honest. He has a wonderful staff. His support group meetings are insprirational.

I believe that Dr. Gorospe is truly dedicated to providing the best care possible for obese patients. He has revised his procedure several times over the past two years I have known him to keep up with the latest most successful techniques to help you lose excess weight and keep it off. His staff are thorough and very sensitive to our problems, I would highly recomend them for obesity surgery. His after care and riskes are not only addressed by himself and his staff, but also by the suport group. Overall I would rate him as 9+. If he or one of his family had this surgery I would have given him a 10. My only complaints would be the very long hallways in his office building and having to wait two months for surgery after I was approved.
