When I had WLS in 2002 I really thought my days of morbid obesity were over. But even though I was told over and over it was only a tool, I expected the surgery to do all the work. I found out that a tool only works when you use it so when I had a revision in 2010, after regaining 100 lbs, I decided to do things differently this time, the most important was to address my dysfunctional eating.
I cut out all sugar and gluten, followed the rules and lost all my excess weight and I have been keeping it off for 4 years now. Losing weight is the easy part, keeping it off is a daily challenge. But before I had surgery I couldn't keep weight off for a month, much less years.
I know that the reason I have been the same size for all these years (something I had never done before) is because I had, and use, WLS.
