Hi everyone,
I had my RNY on 4-14-10. I was curious what types of foods, combinations you are all eating. I have been eating ground meats with shredded cheese and salsa or a little bbq sauce, chicken meatballs, cottage cheese, turkey wrapped around cheese sticks, chunks of lowfat cheese, protein shakes...sf popsicles......I was hoping you all would have some other ideas...thanks!

Wow!! I guess I should be grateful I am only dealing with a small incision about the size of dime. When we first started packing it, it seems like it was several inches deep. Now it seems to be only an inch or so deep. I don't understand it, but I guess it is going to heal with no stitches.

I was walking pretty consistently until this week. I think I may have overdone it though. I started slow but I got to an hour of walking (prob about 3-3.5 miles) but I found that each time I did that I was wiped out the next day so I've been slacking this week.
My goal is to get back out there tonight after it cools off a little...90 degrees in May -- YUCK!

Topic: RE: My back is out!
I'm having back pain for the first time ever in my life. I think it is because I'm not using my abs to move as much as I did before so my back is trying to work harder. I'm hoping this is shortlived, back pain is yucky!

I had a different surgery so I don't have dumping. However my nutritionist suggested that I bring a small bowl of the right size for my portions with me when I eat out. I haven't brought it out yet, but I have thought I really should! If I eat too much I also don't feel good. So far though, I have been able to stop when I should most of the time.
I really have been enjoying trying new types of fish and cooking them different ways. Soon I'll be able to eat meat instead of just fish and i'm pretty excited to try different ways of cooking for my fiance. :)

My surgery was an open ryn on 4/12. On 04/21 I started leaking at a stitch in my belly button, on 4/24 the leak became an eruption (think labor water breaking). They called it a hematoma and seroma and since I soaked my clothes, a towel and my carpet they said it was quite large. Me and my house looked like a crime scene. Here it is 5/18 and my belly button has not stopped leaking. I stuff my belly button with cotton and use a folded mini pad. I have to change it about 8 times a day.
I see the doctor about this on Wednesday (5 weeks, 5 visits). They may put a drain in but since it is draining I don't know why they would do this.
There are others at OH who had the same issue.

I am exercising with the Wii Fit Plus everyday for a half hour or so. I do about 20 minutes of yoga and strength training and from 10 to 20 minutes depending on how I feel that day of aerobics (boxing or stepping). I have been relatively consistent with it everyday with only three days off since the fourth day after my surgery. I'm pretty proud of myself for that... it's hard to make myself do it many days... but I can make myself do it because I ALWAYS feel better emotionally and physically when I do it.
Some days I add some walking too at a different time of day.
