Topic: taking digestive enzymes?
my primary care doctor has recommended that i take digestive enzymes now that i don't have a gallbladder and have had gastric bypass. is this something that wls patients need to take? i have been having a lot of sharp pain where my pouch is after i eat and the only thing that takes the sharp pressure away is taking loads of laxatives.

can anyone recommend a way to aid in digestion without having to take laxatives everyday? digestive enzymes? stool softeners?

p.s. i only eat about 3 ounce meals 2 or 3 times a day. i can't fit anymore than that yet. a lot of the time i still feel full when i wake up in the morning.

My hat goes off to you that you were able to be there for your daughter like that so soon after your surgery.  I have felt so tired and sluggish since I've had mine and I know just how busy the grandbabies can keep you! My daughter is 21weeks pregnant with twins and baby b is already starting to drop and they're concerned she will go into labor. I guess as mothers/grandmothers we find the strength we need when we have to even if we don't have it. I will keep all of you in my prayers! Tammy

Topic: RE: stomach still swollen???
I think with c sections they say 6-8 weeks. I'm not sure what is going on with me. Are you swollen above or below the belly button??? I have an incision above the bellybutton but my bottom part is swollen. Not sure what that is about.

Topic: stomach still swollen???
I had my surgery on 4-21 and my stomach is still quite swollen. Does anyone know how long its suppose to take to go down?? Even tho I weigh a little less I can't wear my clothes and that makes me feel a little down like I'm not any smaller.

I don't always use a straw and I get the burps. Not sure what it is.

Boomsheeka asked the same thing on the main board a couple of weeks ago. I think they said just a little and see how it goes and dilute it with water. I guess you have to see what makes you dump??
Maybe she will chime in and say what the response was.

Ahh!!!  It was the STRAWS!!!!!  Thank you, thank you for reminding me.  I hadnt thought of that because i was always a straw person, i didnt intend to give it up so I had forgotten about them potentially becoming a problem.  But, here i am, saying goodbye to straws :o)

Thanks for your help!
