Yup me too, I h ad surgery 4/26 and lost 10 lbs on the preop diet and then 8 and then I've been bouncing the same two pounds up and down for days.  I am barely eating 400 calories a day and imagine it must have something to do with metabolism or something because no way did I GAIN anything.  I need to stop weighing every day, that is for sure.  Glad to hear others are in the same boat.

Somewhat similar.

Had the sleeve 1 month ago yesterday and I have to remind myself to eat.
In the morning I have 1 egg and half a slice of ham
Lunch I have a protein shake... low cal
Dinner I have a few spoons of veggies, 1 fork full of potatoes and two bites of chicken
At nite I cheat and have a low fat pudding cup... yum
Liquids are no problem
Ive lost 1/3 of my goal weight the first month.

Good Luck

Topic: RE: What was your "rock bottom" to make you want surgery???
My partner and I had been thinking about WLS for a couple of years now. For myself the total rock bottom was going home to visit my family. I walked in and there sat Mom on her bed in her gown with a storage container full of meds and needles and Dad was in his motorized chair in a depends and nothing else. His scars from his heart surgery just staring me in the face, At this point I actualy weighed more than my dad even though he had a 62" waist, I was at a 52" waist.

I decided that day that we were going to do whatever it took to make this happen!
So far my partner has lost over 60 #'s since his surgery on 4/14 ad I have lost 18#'s since 4/21!!!!
Keep a smile on your face....it makes people wonder what you are up to!

Hi there.   I too, like yourself felt the same way about, why just couldn't i accomplish discipline in one more try dieting on my "own".  I am 19 days post op.  It is definitely a life change, but, I am glad I did it.  In time, you will be able to enjoy foods, just very limited.  You are still in major transition and it is the toughest part for me also.

Hang in there and let me know how your doing!

I am opposite... I just finished cooking my daughter pulled chicken tacos and southwestern rice.... and I had to go lock myself in my room. I want to eat... I am not regretting my decision to have surgery, I just wish I was a little further out so that I could chew something while she eats. Right now I hate that I love to cook, and that my daughter still has to eat lol.

i have never had those levels checked. my bariatric surgeon removed my gallbladder when he did my gastric bypass a couple of weeks ago. he said it is because eventually the gallbladder stops working correctly after gastric bypass anyway and this eliminates a second surgery. i have had gall bladder attacks before. a few months ago i had a gallbladder scan and this horrible ct scan thing where they gave me a shot to make my gallbladder freak out so they could take pictures. it was so painful. i was shaking all over for 2 hours after it was over. the tests came back fine except for that it took twice as long for my gallbladder to empty than it should have. the GI doctor did say that there could be issues with my gallbladder even though the tests came back normal and that she would suggest having it out when i got my gastric bypass.

these pains do feel a lot like a gallbladder attack except a lot more intense. i also haven't had a bowel movement since friday. i drank miralax last night and this morning and still nothing has happened. i have only been drinking liquids today with no food.

how long does it take for a gallstone to pass? should i go to the er? what are some signs that it is really serious? i am going to call my surgeon in the morning. the er here is ridiculously packed all the time and if i went right now, i know i would still be waiting by the time my surgeon opened his office in the morning. i just drank some lortab elixer and it helped a little bit.

Wow, I still have phantom pains from my non existant gall bladder and I never thought about what Karen mentioned.  Next time mine starts up I am going to go to the ER and have them check my pancreas.  I hope that you are feeling better Murfy, I am worried about you kiddo!

I'm partially the same way. The stuff I want I can't have.

So the only things that appeal to me that I CAN have are yogurt - which I have none; and cream of chicken soup =P

Though today I had 3oz of refried beans with some shredded cheddar today that was good.

Hey guys. It's me again. Am I the Queen of posting or what? haha

I have developed one of the "side effects" of RNY that my nutritionist and RD warned us about. I have no interest in food, whatsoever. This is a really wierd thing for me since I was a food lover (duh) before my RNY, I literally have to just make myself eat. I want to be healthy. BUT nothing tastes good, I crave nothing and I am not hungry. I am even having a hard time getting liquids in, also force myself to drink.. My tastebuds have changed 100%, everything tastes different, my pouch only really likes cheese or applesauce and those dont taste good either. I've become lactose intolerant as far as milk/yogurt/cottage cheese/pudding go, so I avoid those. Popsicles seem to be the only thing that I like. Literally. Ugh, it's reallly really annoying. I have GOT to get all my fluids and protein in, we all do, but it's so hard. Hope this goes away! I am going to call the dietician and see what he says... I see my PA next week for my one month checkup already...Ive lost 33 lbs so far. Been stuck at the same weight for 3 days...bummer

Did you have your gallbladder out with your RNY? Did they ultrasound it beforehand and see you had gallstones?

The reason I ask - I started having gallbladder probs when pregnant with my son. Whole systems slows down, stuff stays in gallbladder longer and calcifies causing gallstones. Well, when one passed when I was 38weeks pregnant with him, it got stuck at the beginninf of my pancreas backing everything up and causing me to have pancreatitis. Pain - EXCRUCIATING pain through my ribs - like they were expanding - all through my back. Tylenol, vicodin, percocet, ho****er, NOTHING helped. I ended up in labor and delivery where after three different blood tests they finally checked pancreatic enzymes which were SKYROCKETED! Normal values vor lipase and amylase are in the hundred - no more than 300 iirc. Mine were in the 30 THOUSANDS.

After they got it controlled, I ended up getting induced, had a c-section, all was good and I had surgery scheduled for 8 weeks later to have gallbladder removed. (Ironically by someone who preforms gastric bypass surgery, too, lol!)

Then 4 weeks after - you guessed it. The SAME pain - ended up in the ER because of it this time I told them to check lipase and amylase for sure because of what happened before. Results came back - I had pancreatitis again! Totally was admitted. They weren't going to let me out until it was OUT. I had an ERCP a day and half later, didn't find any stones.....that was a Wednesday. Thursday morning I had my GB out.

Soooo, long story short - if you go to the doctor, have them check lipase and amylase levels to rule out your pancreas. You can STILL have gallstones in the ducts even after your GB is out....remnants.

Many hugs, murfy!
