JulieAnn, First off let me congratulate you on 35 lbs gone. That is wonderful in anyones eyes despite what Grouchy Doc will think! Next let me ask when your surgery was. I am 10 weeks out and down 49 lbs. BUT>.... I havent lost an ounce in 4 weeks. I started out at 258 the day before surgery. They say us lightweights (as compared to 325 or so) will lose slower than the larger post ops. Next I need to know how your doing as far as eating? Getting your water, protien in? And how much you eat. See my problem is I dont eat enough to keep my body our of starvation. It is holding onto its fat store because it thinks I'll never feed it again. Thus I dont lose. We are supposed to be averaging 800-1000 calories a day depending on our docs regimine. I am getting a big whopping total of 90-150 a day! Also, I was eating more carbs than protien because I dont tolerate meat well but was able to eat soups, pastas, rice etc. So I started logging my food intake in at fitday.com (you should try this) and I seen where I was at carb wise, calorie wise. Problem solved right? NOPE still cant eat enough calories. So just wondering, how are you doing food wise? this might be your problem also. Check it out and see. Otherwise, your body is going to lose at ITS pace not yours. WE are all going to lose the weight but maybe not as fast as the next person. I know the hardest thing is to not compare yourself with anyone else. When I went back for my 6 wk checkup, he was pleased with 33 lbs down since I got out of the hospital (they dont count what you lose while your in the hospital but you can yourself ) anyways, dont fret over the doc.........you are doing this for you not him! If he wants you down a certain amount, you simply say, Im doing this for me not you and my body wants to lose it in this fashion not the way YOU want it too! Smile and say, besides, Im gorgeous and feel good right where im at! Hugs to you and check on your food intake, maybe you need to eat more like me!

Hi everyone, I'm not losing FAST enough. 2 months out and 35LBS down. My weight is 287 and my Doc is expecting me to weigh 270 by mid month. I am trying but I guess I'm doing something wrong. I don't have a formal excercise regime, but I walk often. I suffer from back and knee pain so I break up my activities throughout the day. I know it's not enough. But what can I do. I take the extra walk when I shop, by parking far away from the entrances at stores. My hubby and I go to the park and walk with our dog. I clean house, do laundry, keep up the gardening, all of which I rarely did before. I want to say that I am doing just fine, but the guilt is overwhelming! My Dr. is a bit of a tyrant and will have my head if I am not at goal. It's a lot of pressure. I know I won't get there in time and I am feeling exasperated. The crazy thing is that I feel great and I can move and sit in a booth at a restaraunt, get through a turnstile without the fear of getting stuck and tie my shoelaces without huffing an puffing, and I am happy for all of it. So I guess when it comes to the Doc, What can I do to protect my feelings from his disappointment in me. I don't really care about him but, the way I feel when I leave is sheer torture and it takes me weeks to recover from it. please advise me, I just want to continue to feel great and to be proud that WLS has worked for me.

Topic: Two months post-op
I'm doing great! I've lost 60 pounds in two months. The only thing holding me back now is gallbladder problems. I'm having surgery on 12/16. I wish they would have taken it while I was already under... but oh well. I just wanted to post and let everyone know that I am ok, just busy

Wanda, thanks for you reply. I am now 7 weeks postop and have lost 36lbs. Really slow! It's driving me nuts! I haven't been able to exercise cause I have a torn meniscus. I'm having surgery on my knee on Dec. 4. Not looking forward to going through another surgery, but am looking forward to finally being able to exercise. Good luck to you!

Topic: Great mtg-Silverlake in KY- Rec. Ctr
Hello everybody...what a gloomy day outside today....but, here's my scoop for today......I attended a meeting last week in Erlanger, KY at the Silverlake Recreation Center and it was marvelous!! Most of the patients there were from "Dr. Smith's group", from St. E. South. This doctor seems to have it all...everyone there just bragged on him and his staff!! They have a therapist in the office(psychologist), and they all...couldn't say enought for this Dr. Smith(Alien attacking, warning, warning...........), sorry, just had to throw that in......anyway, what an enlightening meeting...so upbeat and encouraging!! One girl there brought her clothes for anyone who needed them...I'm telling you...her husband loaded 8 green garbage bags of clothes in my car....I was so excited.......so, whoever you are...I forgot your name...but....may God richly bless you.......my friends and I had so much fun going through them! The rest I am going to donate to my church. SO...this meeting in Erlanger is every month...next month...a Christmas party get-together! How fun! Had my surgery on 9/18 and have lost 50 pounds!!!

Topic: RE: Concerned I'm not losing enough.....
I had surgery 9/22 and started at 246 and have lost 37 lbs, BUT the last 5 bls came off this past week and the two weeks before I was on a plateu where I could tell I was getting smaller, but the scale didn't show it. I just read in the new obesityhelp.com magazine about a "weight reshifting" at 6 weeks out - maybe that was it. Sometimes I get discouraged by my weight loss, but then again, when has this ever happened in the past?!?! Others may loose quicker, but I try not to compare myself, and if I do, it's to my own past history... and when I do that, I'm amazed. Goal is not too far away...... at least it doesn't seem impossible any more. BTW, I also think that I can eat kind of a lot... but it varies on how dense it is. I look at that in the same way as the weight loss... seems like I can eat more than others, but I'm eating way less than I did before. Also, knowing that I seem to be able to eat more, I am aware and am trying to learn to really control my intake now. Good luck to you! We'll make it to goal!

Topic: RE: Protein Powder
I use a product called Protidiet. I get it at a local pharmacy. It is mixed in 6-8 oz. of water and has 15gms of protein per drink. It comes in many flavors, orange, fruit punch, pink lemonade, tea, grape, many others... and it tastes REALLY good. They make a powder and a liquid concentrate. The liquid concentrate is NOT good, make sure to get the powder. If anyone wants any more information on this, email me at [email protected]. My pharmacy will even ship it anywhere in the US. It costs about $5.95 for 7 servings. Thanks, Suzy
