The Evansville Area OH Group will attempt to get together every 3rd Thursday of the Month @ 11:30am-1:00pm to care and share with each other.  (As this could be a problem for those working during the day, no need to be there the whole time/drop-ins are fine.)

This month we will be
at Panera Bread Company, 200 North Burkhardt Road, Evansville, IN 47715.

Topic: RE: scale vs clothing size
I feel your pain.  It's hard to understand this size thing.  I also can't believe I can wear these sizes and still be 40lbs overweight.  What in the world will I wear if/when I lose another 40lbs?  Surely lower than what I wore in high school.  Can't wait to find out though.

Those of you who have been through it please tell me what to expect. Dr. Huse is sending me after my visit in August to a plastics so that I can schedule mine. I am nervous and do not know what to think about it all.

My daughter and I both had RNY.  She weighs 10 lbs. less than me, but she is size 8 and I'm a 12.  Really frustrating.

Topic: Can't exercise all summer

I tore my shoulder rotator cuff on a machine at the gym and had surgery yesterday.  Really bummed that will only be able to walk for exercise.  Sling for month then couple months physical therapy.

and unfortunately, I'm there.  It seems like every time I get close to one of my goals, things slow down.    Why is that?  Don't know.  I have only 13lbs to get to out of obese category and the past three weeks I've only lost 1.5lbs total.  At this rate it's going to take me forever to get there!  Ugh!

So, I went to try on clothes yesterday though to see if there was any change there and I was in size 12 pants and size 8-10 tops.  How is it even possible to wear those sizes and still be "obese"?  Ridiculous.  Anyway, I'm very happy about the size I am and will keep plugging along til the scale catches up.

Sherri,  I am so sorry to hear of your family losing a member.  The cir****tances are sad, because she was doing something to improve her life, but based on what you tell she was suffering with the weight and the issues it caused.  She is free of that now.  My prayers go out to your family.

Topic: RE: Lapband to RNY, Ugh-is it going to work?
I had a LapBand several years ago and within the first year it slipped.  I chose to be revised to a RNY.  I am 4 years out and am so glad I ended up with the RNY.  I've maintained my weight within a 5 to 10 pound range.    Going into it originally I was also scared of the RNY and the malabsorption.  I take all the recommended supplements and then some.  I still supplement with a whey protein drink everyday.  But I can honestly say that if I didn't tell you I had weightloss surgery, you would never guess it.

So don't worry - it's not always easy but it is worth it in the end!

Thanks for your response.  Makes me feel better.  You wouldn't think I would be nervous about this.  I wasn't nervous at all about the band surgery.  I guess maybe it's just having them actually staple and bypass that scares me.
