Welcome Ashley.
Congrats on taking back control over your health. Hang on tight your going to be in for a bumpy but wonderful ride.

We are a small group on the ND board here, but we have lots of information to share, ask away!
I am not a good source for the protein shakes. I have yet to drink one. I did some Carnation breakfast drinks in the beginning. Once I was able to get my protein in by food, those went away.

I have tried the unjury chicken soup broth ( powder pack) and it tasted ok.

Remember to keep sipping and get in those fluids, they are more important right now then even protein. You do not want to become dehydrated.
Your protein counts may start off lower as your not able to consume all that is needed. Don't over fret about this, it will build up as you go along. Your body has some built in stock/reserves right now, so you will be fine.

Let us know what else you want info about
Again, congrats and welcome

Welcome Ashley!!!

Congratulations on being on the Loser's Bench.  You will get lots of advice, but the best I can give you is to follow what your doc says.  Also, I do this:

Weigh and measure my foods
Protein first, veggies, then fruit (when you get to that phase)
100 ounces of water per day (work your way up)
Vitamins (as per your doc)
Exercise, exercise, exercise (start with walking, always follow your docs recomendations)

Feel free to post any questions you have.  There is a great bunch of people in ND and on the RNY and MAIN boards of this site.

As far as the proteins, I have not tried unjury, buy I really like the Syntrax Nectars.  YOu can get a sample pack from Bariatric Pantry or other online sites.   I do like some of the GNC products and the nice thing is they let you return what you don't like.

Good Luck
Steve

Good Luck!!

Hello All,
My name is Ashley, I currently live in Minot.  I just had my surgery 2 weeks ago and am already so happy.  If anyone has any advice I would love it.  Also has anyone out there tried the Unjury shakes?  I was using GNC AMP but my new tummy does not like it one bit and I have to find something new.

Been wondering about you, glad things are going ok. Your our model of how being preggers after by pass is and what others could expect. Try to make it to at least 1 meeting, inform us/others LOL.

Your energy will return just in time to have the baby and be drainned again with the extra duties of being the new mom, which you have experience at too

Take care keep us posted

Sorry to have missed yet another meeting. I just don't have the energy anymore when I get home from work I just want to relax and sleep. Maybe after baby is born I'll have more energy.

Yes,

If you did not scare them off on Monday, let me have a shot! LOL..  I really enjoy our coffee meetings.  It is a great chance to learn from those who have gone before us and to also remember what it was like when we first had the surgery.  (That is why we need newbies!!)  It is important that we remember what we went through to appreciate what we have.

See everyone on Wednesday, unless I have my gallbladder removed. I don't recommend this procedure just to lose weight.  If I wanted to lose more weight, I would have the doc cut off my left leg.

I won't be able to make this one...darn it!  Just way too busy this week.  Wednesday will be my one night to actually be home this week.

Hopefully can see you all again next time!  Have fun and good talks!
