To all those that say the info in my post..."About the Duodenal Switch or BPD-DS" is wrong.
I have to add... This place was so great when I first started here, over a year ago. But in the last 4-6 months, it's changed so much. Not for the good either. I really don't know why I keep coming back day after day. Evidently, some of the new post-ops have more knowledge and experience than us further along, and just dont need us around anymore. That's at least how I've been made to feel lately by "know-it-all" posts like Ed's.
It's amazing the amount of influence 1 negative person can have. I just want posters to be more critical of the information that is shared, and more aware of possible intentions behind some posts and behavious.
I certainly don't post the way I used to. One of the things that keeps me here is to correct any wrong information about the DS. I am just amazed at how people will post information that has no substantiation. I worry about newbies making decisions based on that information. The other reason I stay is to be able to offer an occasional word of encouragement, regardless of WLS type. I know how much that meant to me when I was struggling.
I hope you keep coming back. I, for one, would miss you.

My first reaction to the posting of this type of inaccurate information is -hey look, Captain Obvious has put a link to information that people on the OH likely have already found on their own! Then I think wow, not only is the information wrong and we've already been down this road, but it seems like the OP has an axe to grind all thinly veiled in the premise of "just being a helpful guy".
However, while the following may be flawed logic to some, the reason that I *DON'T*mind that the OP posted this misinformation, is that it gives all of us with the DS to post accurate information and direct newbies to reliable sources, which in turn lets them make up their own mind based on reliable information, as it should be. Without these posts, I have no doubt that people would read this misinformation and then perhaps never look further. So, in a sense - a greater purpose is served.
It is unfortunate that the agenda of the OP, also has to rile many of the post-ops who are here to just support people with their personal triumphs, struggles and encouragement.

For some reason I had trouble posting before... I just wanted to say that this is such bull****and why you are sticking your nose in a surgery choice that is not yours is beyond me. Become an expert on the RNY if you feel you need to be everyones saviour...but stay out of DS issues, that do not concern you. If you are not a supporter, you shouldn't be posting.
I think you are on here trying to save everyone....and trying to spread your ignorance. Its not fair, and I can understand why you are making so many people angry. Do you want attention? Instead of turning the Ontario board into an angry place, why don't you consider sticking to what you know.
