I'm back

I used to be on the boards daily however I lost my mom on the 3rd (no one should ever have to plan and execute their mother's funeral at 26!) and that same morning my dad was admitted for surgery. Now that the dust has settled somewhat around here, and my orientation is on Thursday I thought I would come back and try to catch up.

Can anyone give me to run down of what happens at orientation? I know I read it somewhere before my recent situation, but I have been in such a fog I really can't remember what I read!

Thanks in advance!

Referral: Aug 20/12, Orientation: Dec 13/12, Nurse Consult: Mar 11/13, Social Worker: Mar 11/13, Nutrition Class: Mar 19/13, Dr Consult: Mar 20/13

I know what you mean and that fog takes some time to settle! Sorry to hear everything you have been

going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you.  Where is your orientation? Mine was in Guelph

and you really don't have to take anything with you, just listen to what they have to say and take a support

person if you want.  It's basically just an information session and they will explain the process and how

everything works.  Good Luck and Keep us posted!

So sorry to hear of your loss.

Like the other poster indicated, it really is just that.....a session that talks about the WLS and what it entails, what their expectations are and if you are interested in continuing with the path to surgery.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

There isn't much to do to prep for orientation.  Jot down any questions you have and bring those with you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother.  That is a terrible thing at 26.  My thoughts are with you and your family.

Nothing special to do for orientation.  They introduce you to the program, give you an overview of what you have to do to prep for surgery, what the surgery changes in your insides, what complications or issues could arise, and a very broad overview of how you have to eat afterwards.

Just bring your health card and yourself and maybe a pen and paper (and anything else they might have asked you to bring in the letter - I can't remember whether they asked us to bring anything else).

Good luck!

Very sorry for your loss... please accept my condolences.

Orientation is pretty varied from place to place it seems.. I am not sure what Windsor is like and I think I recall that is where yours is. Maybe someone can help there.
