Okay so this weekend is going to be a big one for me. I am going to be heading into my 2nd week of opti, and as I live by myself and am not going to be with Family this holiday, I am concerned I may have a break.

Does anyone have any advice or tips to get through this? There are only so many times I can go for a walk, hit the gym or call a friend. LOL

Thanks!

Have chicken broth....think happy thoughts about your surgery date and what you will accomplish next year...I know its tough I was a bear on opti....my surgery was 3 months ago...my nephew lives with me and told me he didnt want to be deprived of his holiday and expected turkey and ham and all the fixins....well you know what it doesnt even bother me I will be cooking but i know I will be eating only my 3 or 4 oz of turkey....so remember by christmas you will be the same....not so concerned and eating a wee bit...(as a side note in 3 months Im down 5 sizes so you will probably be somewhere similiar by christmas...keeping in mind the long term goal is a great way to get through it!! Good luck!! watch the forums on the weekend.

This is my last weekend of Opti as well..... and I'm cooking dinner for my family  All of it from fresh cranberry compote to the Turkey... my niece is making the pies... but after she gets to my house  The SMELLS my house will have this weekend!! ohhh gawd!!!'

but my one big worry!  accidentally taste testing or licking my finger! I'm so scared I might do it without thinking. it's on my mind all week that I have to be extra careful and wear rubber gloves or something LOL

19 more opti fast to drink and then it's surgery!

I am right there with you KerryF, I am going to not just one but 3 thanksgiving dinners this weekend, (one i will be cooking), but again i survived 2 birthday parties during my 3 weeks of Opti thus far, and i am certain (tough difficult) i will make it out alive this weekend.

I keep my eye on the prize, the end result, and where i will be at next year , like the previous poster said, drink some chicken broth, eat some SF jello (not sure if your centre allows).

I hope that you make i through this weekend unharmed.

Hugs to you.

I think you are all doing fantastic. This is a really hard test. I only had New Years Eve and my kids birthdays. But you are strong women and can do this. Just remember a size 10 is much better than a 26

I was on optifast last Thanksgiving so this brings back some memories for me,  it actually wasn't so bad. It was right in the middle of my 6 weeks of optifast and I liked it.  Chicken broth helps too!

Cooking a big thanksgiving dinner was a challenge for me, but I made it through carving the turkey, smelling it cook, and serving the dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy etc and putting whipped cream on the pumpkin pies without licking me fingers!  I wanted and needed the surgery so badly, I had to keep reminding myself why I was doing this and kept my eye on the prize. Almost one year later I am totally enjoying the prize!   I wrote down some goals for myself, looked at pictures (that I didn't like at all) and stayed focused.  If you tell yourself you can do this, I know you will do just fine! I also found it to be a sense of satisfaction knowing that I was able to get through so many things without food, as before l would just over eat and never be satisfied.

Hope this helps!  Good luck, l wish you all the best over the long weekend.

You'll do fine.  If your fingers want to wander, give them something to do.  Start a craft project.  I can do lots of things, but tend to knit as most of my other hobbies take up a lot of room.  Go to Michaels (or somewhere like that) and pick up a couple projects to do.  A number of years ago, I came across a bead banner of a black cat in front of a full moon and did that up.  I still have it for Halloween.  It kept me busy.  But you can get lots of things for Halloween, or probably start finding decorations to make for Christmas (not too early when you are starting to craft for that, trust me).  Maybe pick something up you can make and give as a gift for Christmas, like ornaments.

Make some play dough and have fun with that.  Or do something goofy, like paper mache a balloon to make it into something.  Get some water based paints and paint a Halloween picture on your front window/door.  Carve a pumpkin (if you hand out treats).  There are ways to preserve it until the end of the month.

Buy a 1000 piece puzzle and work on putting it together.  Get one you like the picture of, then you can spread white glue over top when you are done and hang it up (invite a friend over to help with the sky pieces ;o)  )

Lots of things you can do on your own.  Tuesday will be here, and you'll wonder where the weekend went.

Since you live alone and won't be near any of the usual foods, it should be easier than usual.  You won't be tempted by any of the foods so it's just another weekend.  Start getting everything in order for after surgery and before you know it, the weekend will be over.   Cooking for others for a holiday is far more difficult than just having a 3 day weekend to yourself.

I was just thinking the exact same thing. Much easier if you live alone and one doesn't need to worry about grocery shopping and all the cooking involved or the driving to other peoples houses.
Enjoy the weekend, I hear it's supposed to be nice
