Of course, you will see that I don't have one of my own on line. I am the only one in the family who takes photos and it's hard to take one of yourself with a large camera.

If you send it to me I can reduce it for the correct size using photoshop.

Thank you....the prune juice did kick in and its working almost dailt now...WOOT!  I did walk at the Y yesterday for the 1st time.  I did 45 minutes on the treadmill, slowly...like 2.4 mph.  I looked pathetic, but I dont care.

I am down like 18# now since surgery 29 days ago.  I wont complain!

Thanks for the nice words!!!

I had a VSG too and the bottom line is that it takes time. I"ve lost 35 pounds since the surgery....but I stalled for 3 weeks. Not an ounce. Apparently your body is getting used to the weight loss. Just keep walking, even if you aren't exercising. Walking is better than doing nothing. But you must do the walking. But don't overdo it. It's a process.

You had serious surgery. And my doctor told me that I'm having a bowel movement because I'm not consuming "food" like i used to. when you start to eat normally.....they will come, but not like they used to.

dont be afraid to call your doctor's nurse and ask questions.

I had my Lap VBG 5-1/2 years ago. I sailed through mine without even a pain pill (sorry folks.) The poopin' thing did get me, though, because I was so intent on the liquid diet for 3 days and getting protein in. My doc suggested an over-the-counter stool softener tablet a couple times a day. After 2 days it started working. It wasn't like a laxitive where you can't stray from the bathroom, but just makes it easier and encourages your body to go. Ask your doctor if the prune juice doesn't kick it in.

As for the weight loss, you're not moving around as usual, so even with calories cut, your body isn't burning it up. Don't worry. It will all happen after you've healed up. Then, start with slow walks. You'll do great!

I had a lap VBG on 9/29/09 and I know that just my recovery was very poor....weeks 3 & 4 were the worst for me...the pain on the left side was the worst.....coughing, sneezing, sleeping in my own bed could not be done for about 5 weeks....and then it slowly went away until one day I woke up and I was fairly normal...I still have some burning at the surgical sites but I know I have pushed the limit as far as lifting and such....so give yourself time.

15 pounds is 15 pounds that are lost-good bye forever.....how are you doing with fluids? Are you getting the right protien in? Our weight loss is going to be slower than the DS or RYN folks so do not compare.....as for your consitpation issue, my doctor said benefiber and colace...however, I have not had that issue, I had a problem with constant diarreha...which has finally been resolved...thank god!

Just remember that you have had major trauma to your body and it is saying whoa!!!!!!!!! Follow your menu, drink and drink....get up and about as much as you can...I know it hurts but it helped me...and be patient...you will see changes even if it is just measurements...I have stalled a few times and got all cranky about it.....but then it moves on and the weight goes.....

Take care!

Hi everyone!
I had an OPEN VBG and appendix out 22 days ago on 11/17.
I am still sore and slow, but had to go back to work 2 days ago.

Heres my question...can anyone help?
I am down 15 lbs........but since last Tuesday (8 days) I havent even lost an ounce, literally!
I admit to not excercising...but I can barely sit up alone without a lot of discomfort.  I was told open VBG takes a long time to recover from, not to mention the appendix.

Heres my other issue-I only have gone #2 twice.  It seems every 9-10 days I go a little.  I am usually a 1-2x a day gal.   I started adding 1/2 straight prune juice to my protein shake in the morning.

Any advice?  Should I be concerned?  I should be losing!

Thank you!  I am a little blue over this.
