Yes, you can.  While not likely as soon after surgery or with the sleeve, it can happen.  If that is the problem, you have to eat small meals with good sources of protein to keep it stabilized.  Which is really what we are striving to do anyway.  Take good care of yourself.

If youre only getting this way when you are in the heat, it could be heat exhaustion/dehydration. 64 oz is an absolute minimu fluid intake, but honestly, f you are out in the heat, you probably should be getting 90-120 oz of water. Not eating or drinking before going and doing something lilke that isnt a terribly good idea....

Yes... It is only when I'm in the heat. But it's strange because it wasn't even that hot! But it feels just like it would feel when my sugar was high... But I drank the powerade that had carbs and felt better

It had CALORIES.

Seriously, carbs are not MAGIC. You can't get up, skip breakfast, go out and do STRENUOUS EXERCISE on an empty stomach and NO FUEL and IN THE HEAT and expect to be fine.

When I was early out from my VSG, I signed up for a triathlon and I started training for it. I was working out 6-8 hours a week, strenuous stuff. Swimming, biking, running and, eventually, strength training. At first I was consuming only 700 calories a day and my carbs were under 30 g. By the ned, I was consuming only 900 calories a day. And my carbs were under 45 g. Training for a triathlon.

I *never* had any issues with my blood sugar doing this. I also never skipped breakfast, always fueled any exercise longer than an hour, had a small snack before any workouts if I was going into them when it had been longer than two hour since I had eaten.

This is what you have to do in order to not pass out. Your body needs fuel. It will get a certain amount from your fat stores, but exercise / working out / physical activity often requires a faster form and that means you have EAT.

Also, strenuous exercise increases your overall protein needs. So, if you are being more active than an average person, you need more protein than the average protein. That's why I was told to get 100 g a day when I was training for my triathlon even though my surgeon normally has patients getting 70-90g a day.

I think it would be best to look at your eating behaviors and take the guessing out of it. Test your blood sugar levels, for heaven's sake! You can get a glucometer or a test kit at the drug store.

Next look at your eating behaviors. Not eating before heading out for the day with an activity isn't really a good thing. You need to feed your body so it can work at its optimal levels. Think about the word breakfast. It comes from two words break and fast. Breakfast means to break the fast. The fast is that you haven't eaten in most likely 12 hours, which is a long time - especially during WL.

You got a lot of good advice about protein and eating regularly throughout the day. Follow it. You want to keep your glucose levels stable and that is the best way to do it.

I would advise you to monitor your blood sugar levels.  It sounds possible that you sugar is going a little low, as that is how I feel when it happens.  But, I also feel that way when my blood pressure is low, so monitor that too.  Finally, dehydration can make you feel that way.  Oh, and if you are on blood pressure medicine or metformin or something perhaps it needs to be adjusted.

I have to eat a bare minimum of 60-80 net carbs a day to avoid low blood sugar, and I shoot for about 150 net carbs.  No low sugar issues then.  I alternate 15 net carbs (snack) and 30 net carbs (meal).  Too much carb at one sitting can trigger insulin, cravings, hunger, and storing calories to fat.

Good luck.

I was on Victosa shot every night to keep my levels low before surgery.... But dr took me off of everything. My blood pressure stays at 120/80 normally. I'm on no meds at all besides vitamins. I think my sugar levels are going low... But strange it only happens when I'm in the heat. I keep my carbs under 40 a day... If you are between 60-150... How are you staying in ketosis? I thought I had to stay in ketosis to loose what I needed too?

You dont need to be in ketosis. In fact, except for the first few months, ive never been able to keep my carbs under 40. You will lose faster if you do, but it's not required.

Ketosis is not mandatory.  I ate at the range of carbs listed above from the end of month 2 through hitting goal.  The bottom line is the weight loss is about eating less calories then you are burning.  I was careful not to eat too much carb at once to avoid the insulin issues.  The predominant view on the board is to go low carb and it works for many.  It is not the only way that works though.  If you are struggling with low blood sugar than it will be a difficult and not necessarily safe path for you to follow.

Oh, and being in the heat can drop your blood sugar levels.  I have not noticed a problem, but I have had students that I would have to make sure they had a snack before recess or they would go low during the warmer weather.
