Is there anybody here who eats 1600 calories per day?

In case you missed my earlier post, y dr and nut wants me to eat 1600 calories per day at only 5 weeks out. I ate like that before the surgery, so now why did I have surgery again?

Wow, at five weeks, I was lucky to be able to physically consume 400-600 calories.  Even at almost 11 months out, I get MAYBE 1000.

Did you ask your doc and nut about that high caloric intake?  Perhaps they have a reason.

Thanx Danielle. I really just wanted to confirm that Im not the one who is crazy. I now feel physically sick from TRYING to eat that much. they dont have a reason. they are going by a formula accoring to my weight and height. they said at 800 calories I am starving my body and my body is going to try to hold onto every ounce.

I understand.  I know when I tried to eat more, that early out, it made me sick and was very unpleasant; and, forcing myself to eat always felt wrong.

I don't think you're crazy, if that helps--but then, I always say that sanity is highly overrated.

Has your doc done a lot of RNYs?  Could you maybe talk with some of his other patients and see if they were eating that much?

Now, granted I had a different procedure, but 600 to 800 calories until you were ready for maintenance (then bump up to 1000) were the guidelines I was given.

I am DEFINITELY not a person who advocates going against their nutritionist and doctor's orders - but honestly, that seems wrong.

Huuummmm.....
I eat 1600 to 1800 calories a day, sometimes more if I'm hungery. You are too early out to even think about taking in that amount.

Keep in mind I also exercise apx. 2 hrs. a day.
I think your Nut. is crazy myself. Sorry, I'll call em as I see em.
Listen to your body, you stop when you are full.
This is a lifestyle change, not a diet.

The key to success is: Moderation, Exercise and be sure to drink all your water. Never drink with meals.

I'm over 2 years out. I'm also a revision, had WLS in 1980. I have been around the block a few times. I fill in as a Bariatric support group leader for 2 different groups. Some Nuts. really don't have bariatric training. Does he/she???

YIKES! That is alot. I was at my support group the other night and our nutritionist did a power point and she said we should be eating like 900-950 calories a day. I am a little over 3 months out. She also said the further out you get 1200-1300 is good to keep losing. 1600 was when you are finally happy where you are at and just want to maintain.

You know all these NUTS say different things.

On monday Im gonna make an appt to see the nutritionist at my HIP center and get a second opinion. The nutritionist I saw today was at the hospital where I had the surgery done.
