Michael Moore On How To Lose Weight
Don't worry about loosing weight on 6 month diet. They want to see 10-15 lbs. they are mostly looking for compliance with a program. Studies have shown people who are successful with sticking with their diet for 6 months have more success after WLS. I don't know how true this is , but I had to work hard to get it , so I'm careful to make sure it works.
Don't let it get to you too much. I only lost 8 lbs in 6 months, and now down 40+ lbs.
Good luck,
Katie D

I like Michael More and I agree with many of his documentaries. Especially the one about Wal-mart.
And I can't wait to go see the new one. Should be interesting, too.
This dose not pertain to Michael More. But has anyone seen the other documentary called.
FAST FOOD NATION. You should rent it and it will open your eyes. I read the book, most informative, then watched the movie.
It sheds a new light on the subject of American Obesity!

I've seen FFN .. It is a real eye-opener ..
I personally had a similar experience when I returned from Brazil after my WLS .. I remember the first time I went to Chii's (a fav of mine before surgery) and, as I sat there and barely could eat my tortilla chips broken into small pieces and dipped into the meat queso sauce, I was stunned to watch "from the outside" as people, kids included, wolfed down big appetizers, then large entrees, followed by rich desserts .. all around me, just like I used to do ..
I just wanted to get up and tell them all "stop, you don't have to do this to yourselves!" ..
No wonder we are so big in this country, and "growing" ..
When I was in Brazil, I saw almost no fastfood places, despite the fact I was staying in a very large, high-end coastal resort city .. There was ONE McD's a few blocks down the street, but as my concierge pointed out, that was "mostly for the Americans (tourists)" .. Most Brazilians make their own meals at home , but when they eat out the cafes serve mostly lean meat and/or fish- type dishes .. It almost goes without saying that the people there seemed so much thinner and healther than here .. They also walk/jog the beach there in the a.m.s., big time (it's several miles long) .. I think the only M.O. people I saw there (other than myself) were mostly tourists or patients in my surgeon's office .. !
btw, Michael said in another part of that interview, in response to people that say he should leave the U.S. if he doesn't like it here, that he can no more do that than he could leave his fat body ((he said he "hates being fat") .. However, he can work to improve things, which is why he's losing weight and why he continues to make his stirring documentaries, hoping people will take action to improve our country ..
Good going, Michael!

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

I for one love MM, I think it's great he is losing weight, whatever way possible! YES...I am treated differently now that I am overweight than when I was slim...moreso here in the good old USA than any other country I have ever lived in. I thought there would be more acceptance here, but that just isn't true. I think it's the last 'acceptable' form of discrimination. Just try being an overweight liberal in the Midwest!
I pulled my 4 year old out of a pre-school that had a McDonalds 'creative play' area set up in the classroom, the teacher said she wanted something from the community that made the kids feel at ease? I think I take a very small leaf out of Mr Moore's book in how I deal with the 'greater stupid factor'...funny thing must have looked hilarious to the teachers, the only FAT mom is the one that finds McDonalds in the classroom offensive!!!
Thankfully I hate soda, so diet soda has never been on my list.

hmm i don't really agree with the 3 things he thinks all over weight people have in common.
I rarely drank diet soda. I was drinking lots of water, or unsweetened /decaf tea; I go to bed around 10 pm and sleep until about 8 am (although I did have sleep apnea, but i slept with a c-pap, so not sure that one pertains to me either), and the never eating thing....can't say that I was that way either. If anything I ate too much...hello? thats why i was obese.
maybe im the exception to his three things...
