Revision or StomaphyX procedures
Hi guys...I'm almost 9 yrs out and need to have a revision, StomaphyX procedure or something along that line. Originally weighed a little over 500lbs. got as low as 144...leveled off at around 155-160 until a year ago and now the weight is coming at me almost nonstop, im at 265....if anyone has had any revision procedures, id love to talk. thanks
I'm so sorry, the Stomaphyx procedure does NOT work. Another one is ROSE and it doesn't work either. Please do not waste your money.
There is a band after bypass (safest but verrrry slow weight loss) or revisions to DS (dangerous but most effective). ERNY... sucks big time, buys you a year of skinny with mega vitamin issues.
It's a hard decision. :o(

Pffft, StomaphyX is a total cluster waste of your time and money. Get a revision to DS, it's the best WLS there is. I had gastric bypass / RNY for 28 years, had to fight like mad to keep the weight off, but managed to do it for 15, then lost control and gained it all back, plus hypertension, sleep apnea and gout.
I got a revision to DS in Sept. 2008 and it's heaven. Here's my 1 year out post:

Seriously, get the DS.

Hi Angie -
Any reason for the weight gain? I assume????? that you lost your focus and may have stopped exercising, weighing food, etc. If that is the case, before considering a revision can you get back to basics again? You have successfully kept off 140 lbs. While I know that you are disappointed that you gained weight back, it is still an accomplishment. Can you look into getting help from a therapist to help you work on your food issues? The surgery only helps us so much, for me I have had a weight problem for 40+ years - that is hard to overcome!
Best of luck to you with whatever you decide. You did this once before and you CAN do it again!!!!

I know Vitalady is a big proponent of The Rose Procedure over Stomaphyx, as far as actually being effective and not needing to be repeated at a later date .. You might check it out .

As much as I adore and love Michelle (VitaLady) there is not a single person in 3 years that has had success with that procedure on the revision board. THREE years!
They are ALL the same, they lose about 20# on the post op diet and as soon as they start solids they regain with friends.
ROSE is self pay, ins does not pay. It's $10K. Most can't afford to waste that kind of $.
Does anyone know if the Stomaphyx works for helping to repair acid reflux? I'm having a lot of trouble with pain and acid lately. I did have some weight gain, but got that back under control. Now I just have this terrible pain when I eat and the acid that comes up during the night causes me to cough all morning. I'll be seeing my surgeon on Monday.
