Does anyone have any experience with a VBG?
I was told that I wasn't a candidate for any of the malabsorbative procedures, such as RNY, due to my medications and not wanting to change how they are absorbed. So I thought for awhile that my only option was the band (either Lap-Band or Realize band) and that depressed me because I was looking at the long-term results and they don't really look all that good to me. But then I came across the VBG and now I'm thinking that it may be an option for me. So does anyone here have any experience with it?
Are you maybe talking about the VSG? The Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy is different than the VBG, I don't know if they are even doing the VBG anymore?
The VSG is not malabsorptive. There is a whole forum here dedicated to that procedure. If that's the one you're talking about, you might want to check out the sleeve forum.
Best of luck on your journey=)

and, I guess they must still be doing VBG's because here is the link to the VBG forum. You might want to check this one out if you are truly looking at the VBG. Sorry for confusion.

The VGB is not one of the ASMBS's approved surgery types because of all the horrible complications and the poor weight loss stats. There's a board here because people who got the surgery when it was a sanctioned surgery need a board too, not because reputable surgeons do the surgery any more.
