Travel after surgery means you've got enough to think about -- recovery, comfort, fatigue. I recently flew and splurged on fast track Copenhagen Airport https://comfortpass.travel/airport/fast-track-copenhagen-kas trup-airport-cph/ so I spent fewer minutes standing in lines and more minutes sitting comfortably before my departure. It gave me a calmer start and less worry about postâ?'surgery travel hiccups. If you've got health considerations, smoothing out the travel side helps big time.
While this forum is all about trucks and adventures, it's also important to take care of ourselves along the way. A fasting analytics app can be a powerful tool to help monitor your fasting patterns and improve overall health. If you're curious about wellness tools, check out https://wellness-app.com/, which offers useful features to support healthy habits. Combining the thrill of driving with mindful health tracking can really boost your lifestyle. Here's to good drives and good health!
Hey everyone!
I recently came across a blog that really resonated with me, especially for those of us who?ve had weight loss surgery like gastric bypass or gastric sleeve. It talks about why medical alert jewelry is so important post-surgery and highlights a great option for adjustable bracelets and necklaces. I thought I?d share some key points here since it might help others in this community.
Why Medical Alert Jewelry is a Must After Surgery:
- No Blind NG Tubes: After surgery, we can?t have blind NG tubes inserted because of how our anatomy changes. A medical alert can say ?NO BLIND NG? to make sure EMTs know this.
- Dumping Syndrome: Too much sugar can cause serious issues like Dumping Syndrome. Engraving ?NO SUGARS? can be a lifesaver in emergencies.
- NSAID Restrictions: Many of us are told to avoid NSAIDs because they can irritate the stomach pouch. A simple ?NO NSAIDS? on your bracelet or necklace can prevent complications.
The blog also mentioned Divoti?s adjustable medical alert jewelry, which is perfect for those of us whose body sizes are changing. Their bracelets and necklaces are adjustable, so they grow (or shrink!) with you. Plus, they?re stylish and durable, which is a bonus if you want something that doesn?t scream ?medical alert.?
Here?s what you can engrave on them:
- Your name
- Type of surgery (e.g., Gastric Bypass, Gastric Sleeve)
- Date of surgery
- Restrictions like NO BLIND NG, NO SUGARS, or NO NSAIDS.
- Emergency contact info
I love that these are customizable and practical for our unique needs. Plus, I found out that you can use your HSA/FSA card to pay for them online at DivotiUSA.com, which makes it even more convenient!
If you?re looking for something that adapts to your journey, this might be worth checking out. ?
What do you all think? Do you wear medical alert jewelry, or have you considered it? Let?s discuss!

I jes noticed my hair removing itself by the ( mini) handful politely from my scalp
. This hasnt happened since RNY surgery 14 years ago .

I DONT think my lifes that stressful now - yes Im semi homeless either sleeping in a car or on a half inflated air mattress in an unheated electricity less water free paid for home where at least I can lock the door behind me.
. Im applying for NYC apartments - a very tough process .
For six long years every time I closed my eyes the looming foreclosure on my beloved home kept me from sleeping .
For a year and a half now thats been gone but a local politician is trying to steal my paid off home by threatening immediate demolition if its not sold to one of his builder friends in thirty days ... Im working as hard as I can to prune the hedges, cut the lawn , cut down the phragmites ( Australian imported invasive weeds that grow 12 feet tall in no time in water- dense shoreline environments )
Struggling to get insurance payment to start work.
92 and 91 year old Parents disappeared in Europe ( probably went mountain hiking w Mom on a walker knowing lifelong athletic them lol... )
In reality they probably either took a weeklong bus tour somewhere or went to a hot springs resort - but never thought to call me.

Any post op frustrations in YOUR current life ?
Dont get m wrong - Im profoundly grateful to HAVE a life ... jes a little frustrated w making every mistake possible many years post op.
I'm doing well. Doc ended up putting me on prilosec as the heartburn and acid was causing a lot of swelling in my throat to the point of making it difficult to swallow.
Now I want to reduce my carbs and do higher protein to try to get some weight off. But I know I can't do super low carbs and don't know a good number for me in regards to how many carbs and how much protein. Hard to find answers.
I take whatever I CAN ( I too have a problem swallowing even w chewables )
Try to get multis and vitamin c in no matter what first. The vit c staves off inflammation, infection even tooth loss causing gum disease ! And whatever form ( chewable tablets are my favorite ) it tastes like candy
Also iron is super important for energy - there are chewables of ferric sulfate etc ... NEVER elemental iron our post op bodies wont absorb that.
I take a magnesium chewable too occasionally to stave off muscle cramps. Eating high potassium fruit like bananas or drinking apple cider works like this too.
((())) good luck
Im pain free - carless homeless but GOD thank U diabetic foot pain free What a relief !
What a relief !
Hi, I'm from Alaska. But I have a friend in Arizona who has really been struggling trying to keep her vitamins down. She has been diagnosed with malnutrition. I am trying to find a vitamin regimen for her with mostly chewable vitamins or liquid? Or small pills. Anybody have any recommendations?

I ate just a few slices of turmeric root pan roasted and deglazed w chicken stock.
Still tasted awful ... but most importantly .. it seemed to WORK !!!
As usual Ive been abusing my poor feet walking incessantly in NYC and usually by the end of the day theyre swollen and VERY painful and sensitive including the bottoms which makes it very difficult to drive .
Post turmeric I immediately noticed a difference - just much less sensitivity and pain .
Its only been a few days and Im feeling less and less burning, hypersensitivity ( in a bad way- feeling my way with my toes and feet feels perfectly normally functioning ) .
If this isnt imaginary ( there is such a thing as the placebo effect.... its really effective , even miraculous . I'm used to taking ( and paying outrageous sums for ... ) 400 mg of Gabapentin per day !

You're absolutely not crazy, many of us have delayed those milestones for similar reasons, and it's never too late to build the loving family and future you've always wanted.
