Hi, my name is Kristy and I have been a member of OH for 6 yrs,  I am trying to get SSDI and hired an attorney that specializes in SSDI.  I am glad they get paid if they win and only from the money that is back owed, so you really don't miss the money since we won't see it. My thoughts to anyone hoping to get disability is that social sec. doesn't care if we have Fibro or anything else.  So what we need to use is major ammo.  They don't want to hear we have Fibro, what they are interested in are the under lying issues that affects our condition.  Here is a website I found to help with those issues   http://www.anapsid.org/cnd/diagnosis/berne.html

Pain alone won't get disability but put together panick attacks, confusion, memory lose, depression, anxiety, Fibro Fog.  There are other check off lists for symptoms but I like this one.  Hope this helps.  Also arthritis is also a reason for SSDI to add to the case. The fact is we can't do what we used to do.
Best Wishes

Hi, sorry to hear you are so stressed. I live in Canada (Ontario).I smoked 1 to1 1/2 packs per day and had smoked for 33 years, I saw an advertisment on tv for Ontario Laser Health to help you quit smoking, I went and have been smoke free for 7 mos. now. it's a cold laser therapy that is used on accupuncture sites (no needles) www.ontariolaserhealth.com  there should be something in your area in the states. for me this was a miracle. I never thought i could quit,   hope you can find something in you area. good luck!

Blessed,
Hope you get t feeling better soon. I am just coming off of a 2 week flare. I felt so bad, I knew I needed to call the doctor but I didn't have the energy to do it.
I started my aquacise class last week. That always makes me feel better. I love the warm water!

So sorry you are having such a rotten day, wish I had a magic answer for you. If heat hasn't worked maybe ice would. I know when I get migraines that ice works better, then I just snuggle up in a nice warm bed for a few hours. Other than that all I can suggest is call your doc tomorrow and see if you can get some good strong (maybe narcotic) pain meds to knock it out. I'll be thinking of you and hope it is all gone by tomorrow!

Wow, I am so sorry you are going through this.  Here is a link to the law firm that I used - the lawyer that I used was Aba Heiman - he used to work for social security and specialized in chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia back them - there are some articles on the website pertaining to these things.  Unfortunately, I don't think they practice in Minnesota but maybe if you call them, they can give you a referral to someone with experience.

I think part of the problem for you is that you keep trying to work.  For social security you need to show that you cant work for 1 year, atleast that is what the rules were back then.  Since you keep starting and stopping, I think they are seeing that you are capable, even though you really aren't.  You are actually hurting yourself by trying.  I know you need the money but it might be better for you to go on either unemployment or a short term disability at this point while you apply - if this is an option.

When I was applying - I had exhausted my short term disability and couldnt' get unemployment since I hadn't worked in a year.  I had family - no husband but a brother and father but they didn't believe that I was sick, so I got no help.  I had to apply for Medicaid, food stamps and public assistance. To subsidize this, since it wasn't enough to live on - I loved to sew - I made barbie clothes and I was selling them on Ebay - anything for money back then.   I got the lawyer and it took I think a year but I got all the back pay - I only got denied once though.  I hired him right away and he got me approved the second time around.  He knew exactly what was needed.  After 2 years, I got  medicare.  My family finally came around once I got approved, they figured if the government believed me, then there must be something wrong with me.

I really feel for you - go to your local social services department and see what they have to offer you - they should be able to give you public assistance, food stamps and probably medicaid to start with - if you say it is an emergency= they act quicker.  They may actually have info on low income housing for you too - many times public assistance will give you money towards housing  = up $400 towards rent -  I know they did that for me and that was back in 1999.  Now I live in a senior /handicapped housing complex that the rent is based on what you can afford but if you are under 62, you need to be on SSDI.

And, yes = I lost alot of friends when I got sick after constantly saying no when they wanted to go out.  After awhile, they stopped asking.  They couldn't deal with me always being sick.  I am sorry you have no family - I know what that feels like - I have family but no one near by and no one that I can really count on for everyday stuff. I see them for Thanksgiving/Hanukah and over the summer for a large family gathering with all the cousins but that is it.

I wish you the best and I hope all works out for you.  Good luck and keep me posted. I hope my lawyer can help you.  IF you need any help with the SSDI process, let me know.

Ugh! Where do I begin?! Today has been such a bad day. My flare began around noon and has been relentless. I have been nauseated almost all day; headache that began at the base of my scull and wraps around to the front of my head;really really bad deep burning/aching between my shoulder blades and in my neck.  I have been sitting here for hours on end with my heating pack and haven't gotten any relief what so ever. I do have a hot tub but I just don't have the energy or strength right now to even take the cover off of it.
Does anything work for any of you when you have bad flare ups? I am just praying that this intensity will be lessened tomorrow.

Taking one day at a time.

I have fibromyalgia and have actually been diagnosed with Lupus by one doctor. I also have a slue of other health issues, as well. I was denied all three times by SSD. That's with Depression, Diabetes, Liver and Kidney Disease, Chronic Pancreatitis and Fibro/Lupus!!! I have approximately 4 - 7 jobs a year because I keep getting fired for being sick. This has gone on for 10 years! I am currently fired again, lost my home now to foreclosure and don't even know how I will pay October's rent. I'm looking at being homeless. SSDI should NEVER have denied me. Can you tell me which attorney you used? I live in MN but maybe I could use them here? I need help fast or I don't know where I will go or how I will survive.

I don't have family who will take me in. I don't have many friends left in my life due to being sick all of the time. Is that normal for anyone else? Losing friends?

Hi.I had my RNY on April 28, 11.  I quit smoking 13 years ago and I used Herbal cigs. found in Health Food stores. They are strong, stink to high heaven but gave me that hand to mouth and blowing out smoke I needed. I cleaned my house and car-did not smoke any either. I would go outside and take a few puffs. There is tar in the herbal cigs but no nicotine. I also used the patch. Because I got to where I couldn't stand the smell I haven't craved any at all, that would be luck I guess.

The good thing is though-having WLS is the perfect time to quit smoking as the WLS will help in keeping the weight off. You are not gonna want to eat very much anyway and by the time your tummy has healed you should be slimmer than you were.

You may want to talk with the doctors office to see what meds he recommends for the Fibro. I could not take Neurotin or any other along those lines. For me I think it helped coming off everything so I could learn what helps and what doesn't.

I would think any stress you have right now with your stomach wouldn't be very good. Why not ask your doctor for something to help with stress..

Best wishes for you.
